I'm a big fan of Optimus's AoE design, and his previous movie designs look good too.

Optimus Prime is pretty much a red truck in all continuities.

    Still, here we go:

    G1 Optimus - a classic
    [IMG]

RID Optimus - a fire truck
    [IMG]

Movie 1 Optimus - my favourite movie design

For me it's a toss-up between Cybertron, Animated and Prime.

Armada was built like an MMA fighter. Mix in a grill chest and arm cannons, and you're in for a good time

    G1, all day long.

But, I'll give an honorary mention to the Bay films when it comes to AoE's Evasion Mode design. More from the toy standpoint than the actual film. Having the movie version of Optimus "pop" out of the G1-ish alt-mode is almost magic.

As "not a fan" of the Bay films... I'll admit, if they had started with that design for Optimus, I'd have been able to overlook a lot of the stuff that immediately drove me away from the films.

G1 Prime was the one that started it all, so will always be in my top favs. When they had him combine with his trailer was outstanding as well. RID2001 and Cybertron were, to me, what he should of been from the beginning. As a fire truck, he was a hero in both modes. Fighting to protect in bot form, but also protecting and saving lives in vehicle mode. That made optimus a real hero, and the designs are just awesome.

G1 Optimus Prime - So iconic and his Powermaster form is so intimidating & powerful looking

Fall of Cybertron Optimus Prime - I think a lot of it has to do with the figures. I hated how complicated WFC Optimus was but I love how posable and easy to transform the FOC design was.

Cybertron. He was the prime I grew up with, and aside from that, he looks heroic and intimidating in his super mode.

G1 first and foremost. Truck parts integrated into heroic anatomy.
(Glass pecks and radiator abs, made it very easy for me to learn to draw)

Character wise, only the cartoon Optimus holds up well. Why neither Marvel, Furman, IDW nor Budanski can make Optimus a charismatic leader baffles me. At least Cullen give him heart.

Which makes Animated the best character depiction of Optimus. Drawing on some things that were mentioned in G1 and fleshing it out. Optimus was not "born" great (Michael) he isn't royalty, he's a working stiff who did the right thing time after time (even when it cost him personally) and ultimately became a respected leader who cares for his troops.

Favorite Toy: Armada (bendy not super pants) narrowly beating out Lazer Prime who probably had the last of the realistic alt mode Primes until the movie. Generations Optimus has those clamshells on his arms that really hurt his standing.

G1 by far. Love all the other ones as well but G1 is iconic, imo.

I love the Prime design. A good mix of Bayverse and Animated styling.
