I saw there was a thread like this from back in 2009 but instead of reviving a dead thread I thought I'd redo it. I've lately been listening a lot to certain scores or soundtracks from movies, and it got me thinking what was my favorite soundtrack and or score from a movie. My number one was obviously Titanic, I bought the Collector Edition of the score and I listen to it at least once a week. It really takes you back in time and makes you feel the raw emotions going on, I don't maybe its because I've watched the movie more times then humanly should but every time I listen to music from the movie I can easily visualize the moment it came from. Other favorites... Freddy vs Jason - A lot of good rock & metal tracks, How Can I Live is easily within my top five favorite songs of all time Halloween Halloween 2018 Avengers - The Avengers main theme is iconic and I love what the different renditions later movies like Infinity War & Endgame did; Portals still gives me goosebumps Star Wars - Prequels, Original Trilogy, there are some iconic pieces scattered across all the movies What are some of everyone else's favorite scores and movie soundtracks?
Black Panther and The Dark Knight are my top 2 favorite scores. For Soundtracks, my quick list would be Almost Famous, The Crow, TF:TM, and Forrest Gump.
There was a more recent soundtrack thread, from 2014... what's your favorite movie soundtrack ...but that was still 6 years ago, so whatever My favorites: TF: TM (naturally) The Dark Crystal Krull The Last Starfighter Labyrinth Star Wars eps 4-6 Tron Tron: Legacy Ghostbusters 1 & 2 Big Trouble in Little China Puppet Master (horror series) Scott Pilgrim vs The World Star Trek 1-4 A bunch of Disney movies Back to the Future Indiana Jones 1-3 In other words...a lot
Most of John William's scores are fantastic. Star Wars probably has the most pieces of music that I like. Most movie franchises have one or two memorable pieces. Star Wars has like two or three per movie. Aside from the sequel films, which I find very generic and forgettable (I can't hum any pieces from those). For whatever reason, I find the music from Indiana Jones to be super catchy, even more than Star Wars. Possibly because of how overused Star Wars music is getting. Occasionally I'll just find the Indiana Jones theme stuck in my head, and I don't even watch those movies very often. I love the music from The Good the Bad and the Ugly. It's another piece I always find stuck in my head. Some other good ones are: Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit Star Trek Doctor Who Pacific Rim
You know, I actually still have yet to see Jaws. I've probably heard the music through osmosis at some point, but if I have I can't place it. I'll have to check it out, I'm sure it's great.
For me, it's hard to top most of John Williams' material or 90's & early 2000's era Hans Zimmer before he just started making glorified tones after Nolan got a hold of him. Have also enjoyed a decent amount from Harry Gregson Williams, Trevor Rabbin and even Steve Jablonsky's Transformers stuff.
You haven’t seen one of the most influential movies ever to hit cinemas? Woah, your in for treat. If you like horror movies/creature features that is. As a kid, this movie used to terrify me. Now I just find it plan entertaining.
My favorite soundtrack is for the film "The Harder They Come" Honorable mentions go to: SuperFly (1972) A Clockwork Orange American Me SLC Punk
I've never been extremely into horror, which is probably why I've never watched it. Although I'm guessing it's probably not very gross by today's standards? Suspense movies and monsters movies great (I love Jurrasic Park), I'm mainly not into slasher-type stuff. Recently I've been trying to watch more influential movies, so this is a definite watch for me at some point. I've heard nothing but great things about Jaws.
It’s pretty tame by today’s standards, yes. There’s blood, and a few body parts scattered throughout. And we see at least one person get visibly eaten. And this is more of a “monster” movie if anything else. It was the highest grossing movie of all time for a good while.
Transformers the Movie 1986 Superman 1978 BTTF trilogy 1985-1999 Project A-ko 1986 Edward Scissorhands 1990 Drive 2011 Too many to name them all. Or remember. Top Gun, Yesterday, Star Wars, various Disney animated films, Batman...
I love the score from The Social Network (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross) and If Beale Street Could Talk (Nicholas Britell). Both of those are fantastic in my opinion
Unbreakable (personal favorite) War for the Planet of the Apes Ratatouille Transformers The Movie Back to the Future Trilogy Toy Story 2 Halloween Terminator 1 & 2
