Best: Cybertron & 20th.

Worst: Ronald McPrime (yellow armada version) & Energon Morbidly Obease (Hasbro=Love) Prime.

 

i still give it to Super Fire Convoy, he JUST beats out Galaxy Convoy and Masterpiece Convoy and G1 Prime and Black Battle Convoy and Ultra Optimus Primal and Big Convoy. but barely  

I also really like Robot Masters G1 Convoy for some reason. he's just fun to fiddle with.

Worst: i gotta give it to Armada Superpants, in any of it's 3 decos (especially the Ronald McPrime deco) but Energon Optimus "sponsored by Krispy Kreme" Prime is only marginally better (thank goodness we finally got a good Prime out of the Armadaverse - bendy Prime is "OK", i think he gets a little more love than he deserves just because he's so much better than the crap that came out around him...)

 

Wow, I'm not surprised to see GF/Cyberton Optimus Prime as a common favorite pick. He has articulation, G1 inspired styling and is plain on cool. I even ordered a couple of Hybrid Style GF Optimus Primes because I like him so much, and I have the G1 Hybrid Style Optimus Prime on preorder with BBTS. I'm sure he is going to be a fan favorite as well.

I don't have very many of the "Primes" between the '80s to pre-Beast Wars. Of the animal based Primes, I liked the pre-Gorilla Bat based Optimus Primal. I didn't care for the Gorilla Primals AT ALL. One of my least favorite "beast" Primals was the deluxe, mostly transparent blue Beast Machines Optimus Primal. The ONE exception to the anti-beast rule is LeoConvoy or the Lion Optimus Prime for the Japanese BWII (or was it BW Neo?). He is AWESOME!

Since when I originally asked I did not exclude the beast Prime you can include them with your hit/miss list. Of the Optimus Prime's I have, my top favorites are 20th, GF/Cyb, and RiD (despite problems with front tires splitting).`

Leasr - Star Convoy

 

yeah know, i've maintain since i got him, that the deluxe BM Gorilla is actually a cool figure on his own right, even if he's a pretty damn terrible Optimus ~ he looks cool, has a unique transformation and a fun gimmick, that works pretty decent. He just doesn't even remotely look like Optimus Primal.

I'll change it up to Classics Prime for "Best" now, with the Animated Voyager a close second.

Best: ROTF Optimus prime (leader)

Worst: G1 Gobot Prime (the one that looks liek a spychanger)

 

Ouch at all the Primal hate. I would argue that the 20th anniversary TRU reissue, though out of scale, is arguably my favorite Transformer. Though I am a bit biased as I like Primal just as much, if not a bit more, than Prime.

As for Prime himself, I have to go with Movie Leader Prime. My room mate has 20th Anniversary Masterpiece Prime, and I still think that Movie Prime is more fun. I have only been collecting Transformers for a little over a year, and my selection of Primes is limited compared to most of you. Runner up would probably be Classics Prime.

I can't really pick a "worst Prime" as I only own a few, but Cybertron Deluxe Animated Prime is probably my least favorite. Take that with a grain of salt, as I still think he is awesome.

 

Definitively, RID Prime is my favorite, even over MP-01. Why? Teh fact that this is a very realistic Fire Truck, a fantastic different alt mode, and he still has the G1 Spirit in bot mode.


The worst. Armada Prime... God... he's just even less poseable than G1 Prime, and in combined mode he looks like Mer-Man from He-Man. A terrible toy.

 

Best = Crystal Convoy (i don't have it and i want it).
Least = Is there such a thing

 

Ok, so I guess we can update our best and worst since it's been 3 years.  

Best: TF:ROTF Leader Prime. I don't have him yet, but I can tell by the pics he will be awesome.

Worst: Armada Superpants Prime.

but for best: MP Prime, ROTF Leader Prime, RID Prime (I dont have them but oh how I want em)

least: any Primal except Optimal Optimus
