For those G1 collectors, just curious which of the 3 Omnibots do you favor? My personal fav is Downshift..I just think his robot mode is the best of them overall. Others?

Downshift as well- it's a shame he was never repainted.

The mold is as impressive as any other in G1, but there was only one color produced.

2 Overdrive
3 Camshaft

In that order, with the proviso that Downshift is far ahead of the other two, OD's alright, but I've never liked CS.

I have all but Downshift, but I like Camshaft the best. When I got Overdrive in the mail, I thought it had a cheaper feel than the Camshaft.

Well, I think Overdrive was the tallest of the three (mine is about as tall as Blitzwing in robot mode). But yeah, they were kind of short bots.

My favorite is Overdrive, simply for his "attack" mode, which I thought was the coolest of the three. He was also the only mail-away I actually got in the mail, even though I tried to get the other two, along with the Powerdashers and S.T.A.R.S. when I was younger (friends donated the Robot Points).

Overdrive for sure. Though mine is loose and floppy I still like the transformation and overall look better than Camshaft and Downshift.

Sorry for the thread necromancy. But the conversation in the Warden thread has turned to Omnibots and I think the conversation should move here.

So, let's say Hasbro is interested in Omnibots but the caveat is that they need to be pre-tools for someone else. With characters beyond G1 now on the table, which bots would fit the pre-tool bill?

I'll start:

Overdrive - Cybertron Downshift (now, hear me out - the front end grabber is replaced with a twin laser and the missile launchers are retooled to have wings)



And since they'd have Downshift's head tooled, I'm certain Hasbro would toss in a G1 Wheeljack use eventually.

 

The old idea I had for new Omnibots was to do new G1-ified sculpts for the Bayverse Wreckers, since you've got three cars with the same deployable-weapons gimmick. Would probably work even better in this Legacy era where they're G1-ifying non-G1 characters.

I'd do

• Camshaft = Leadfoot
• Downshift = Topspin
• Overdrive = Roadbuster

 

This will be weird but hang with me.

Do a tooling intended for Camshaft.


And then MAKE A BETTER ARMADA SIDESWIPE OUT OF IT.

 

Downshift Is my favorite. I agree they need updates, They did the powerdashers for crying out loud. They were retools but they did them.

 

Downshift should just use the tooling and mold from Runamuck. Done and Done.
