Hi! In the 1986 movie, they killed off plently of loved characters. Most were replaced. Not all were loved by most (looking at you Wheelie) but a couple became fan favorites. Which new characters from Season 3+ were your favorite?

Mine is Galvatron. I like him more then Megatron.

I loved Galvatron and Cyclonus. They had a great interaction.
Rodimus Prime was cool, sure he was an asshole sometimes but i thought that was an interesting part of his personality and i like how Roberts kept that part of him in MTMTE.
Ultra Magnus was great too, i loved how he was a big friendly guy, but he wasnt a dumb kid-friendly giant or a powerhouse.
Predaking and the individual Predacons where great, loved those guys.
And Brainstorm, Mindwipe, Lord Zarak, Sixshot, adult Spike...
The Quintessons are a great addition to the Transformers universe, the idea of this basically evil sci-fi version of the east indian company has such potential.

    Wheelie.

Probably Hot Rod/Rodimus Prime. He's probably one of the most iconic TFs throughout the franchise's history, and his design tells why. He has lots of potential, under the hands of a good writer. Magnus and Kup are also really memorable, though I like them more when they're Wreckers. I really love Cyclonus, not just his character, but his design is just so fundamentally right in my eyes. It does so much with so few details.

    Blurr was pretty cool too.

People tend to like you when you're Leonard Nimoy.

Fond of Kup. Too bad they killed off Ironhide. Those two would have been great pals, telling the bigger war stories.

Kup, Arcee, Cyclonus, Scourge, and Galvatron are my favorites, personalty-wise. Ultra Magnus and Wreck-Gar were cool, but they really peaked with modern adaptations of their personalities. I liked Hot Rod in the movie, but he did become a bit unbearable in Season 3.

And of course, Unicron is ninety different kinds of awesome.

I actually really enjoy Season 3. Loved Springer's sarcasm and all 3 modes. Really loved Blurr's bot and alt modes. Really dug the Sweeps and Cyclonus's jet mode. Loved the concept of cityformers and like that they weren't overused. Obviously I loved Magnus all around. Liked Kup's vehicle mode... Haha I just really liked Season 3.

Galvatron probably takes the top spot. As a kid, I loathed that Megatron, mightiest of the Decepticons, leader of his faction, turned into a pistol for others to use. I didn't like that Starscream kept getting away with crap that for villainous faction, shouldn't have been tolerated to that degree. Then in comes Galvatron. Who annihilates Starscream. Who blows away Thrull as a space cannon.

Cyclonus was the cool spaceplane with forward swept wings and a get stuff done attitude.

Hot Rod/Rodimus. Yeah, the movie got me as a kid, but when I got older and got back into Transformers, the journey he takes parallels maturity. So both as a kid and an adult, there's something to like there.

Blurr, Springer, Wrek-gar, Arcee, and others all brought stuff to the table, but if I had to with resonant weight, I'd go with those three without a doubt.

I thought this was for modern additions made to G1, in which case, it's gotta be SkyByte.

As far as movie characters joining the fray, I always liked Springer & the Sharkticons.

Unicron, assuming he counts. Although I found it rather stupid that the biggest baddest bot in the universe gets smoked in 90 minutes.

Ultra Magnus seemed just like Optimus in value and attitude.

The concept of the transforming autobot City really captured my imagination as a kid

Loved the Quintessons being so other and sinister.

Loved Galvertrons movie voice but found his TV appearance more memorable for being entertainingly crazy and flaky

I like nearly all the 1986 movie cast (it's still my favorite movie), but if I had to narrow it down to 2, one good and one evil:

    Kup

I love Kup because he comes across as so genuine, like a real person. A cantankerous old dude who's been through a lot, but still has a sense of humor. And he can kick some ass!

    Unicron

One of my favorite villains ever. Orson Welles may not have thought highly of the movie or his role, but his performance still impresses me to this day. The booming, deep tone and subdued line delivery was perfect for the character - the Decepticons are so far beneath him, that he communicates with them only to further his goals. Essentially a Planet-sized Mecha Satan, I had never seen anything like him before. And who can forget the scene where he slams Cybertron with his hand!

I loved the whole dynamic of the series after the movie. As a kid, after I saw the movie I lost all interest in seasons one and two. We need more Devcon. Him and Sixshot need to get a show together

So only season 3 and the movie counts? I guess I save my love for IDW newcomers for a different thread.

Honestly, I appreciate that season 3 introduced a main cast of Autobots. Season 1 and 2 pretty much starred Optimus and the rest of the Autobot cast just showed up from time to time. Just having Rodimus, Ultra Magnus, Arcee, Wheelie, Grimlock, Springer, and Kup show up reliably helped build those characters.

Good point. Season 3 was a combo of the Beast Wars way of doing things (small, tight cast) and Season 2 (lots of characters being introduced). While S3 had the core cast of those you named above, plus Galvatron, Cyclonus, and Scourge, the writers mixed it up with lots of other introductions (citybots, Junkions, S3 combiners, etc.).
