I was playing around with Energon Treadshot and I was realizing just how much I like this mold. I'd ended up with an extra one in my Superion hunt, and man, is it a nice figure.

That got me thinking, are there other Combiner Team members that are just awesome on their own?

I love the Energon/ROTF Bruticus Maximus individual bots. Especially Onslaught and Vortex. Vortex is one of my favorite Scout/Basic molds.

I like alot of the Energon combiner figures seperately. But, as for a favorite it'd be a hard choice between Snaptrap, Scattershot and Hun-Grr. And I'd say for the smaller bots it'd be between Streetwise, Cutthroat, Mixmaster & Afterburner

All the G1 Combiner members were pretty crappy on their own.

Though my absolute favorite character on his own, has always been G1 SCRAPPER

Gotta go with Tripredacus Sea Clamp.

He's easily the least-compromised combiner member I've ever seen. If you just picked him up by himself, you'd probably never guess he was part of a combiner team.

The only combiner I own and handled is FOC G2 Bruticus, and of the five, Brawl and Onslaught are all my favorite two of the group.

Yeah, overall that whole team was nice, and typically is really good in all iterations.

G1? I think that most of them suffered from having transformations or underlying structures that were just too similar thanks to the Scramble City gimmick. I would say the exception is the G1 Constructicons, as individually they were solid bots by G1 standards. Storywise, every single Combaticon is a real character and fairly unique.

My favorite non-third party models all come from Energon though. Say what you want about the combined modes, but a lot of the individual bots were quite nice.

Ever since I saw pics of him on flickr I've been really digging Rippersnapper. Personally I just think he looks great in either mode. A bipedal shark is kind of goofy, but that's just another reason I like him. I pretty much like all the terrorcons. Other favs I'd say would be Skalor, Long Haul and Air Raid.

    Toywise or characterwise?

    Character-wise: Swindle. Bar-none.

Toywise: Bonecrusher. Pretty much any figure named Bonecrusher, really. G1 is awesome, because he can become PUNCHDOZER and that's wonderful. Movie is irrelevant, but awesome. But my favorite is Universe, who's a repaint of Wedge. I guess Wedge deserves a spot here, doesn't he.

Skalor: Good articulation for G1, neat alt-mode, and since even the alt-mode has a lot of posability, so much playability.

RotF Swindle: He's a favorite character of mine, but hot damn, I do love this mold. Helps that the head is the same as his Alternators version.

RotF: Hightower: He's such a weird little guy. A big fan.

Mix Master and Divebomb were the only 2 combiner figures I owned as a kid, they will always be my favorites.

I'd say that Swindle is my favorite combiner member. Just a great personality overall. As far as actual teams go, though, I'd have to go with the Bullet Train Team because Railracer is...well...just plain awesome.

From a character stand point, I think that Swindle is one of the truly great Transformer characters. One of my favorite for sure and I was happy he got a spotlight in Animated as one of the returning characters that show featured.

The funny thing is, in the 84 cartoon I can't recall many of the combiner members getting much in the way of story treatment other than Swindle and Silverbolt. Past them, I'd be hard pressed to tell you a single memorable moment for any of the combiner members.
