G1 seasons three and four, Beast Machines and 2001 RiD are tied for my favorite TF cartoons of all time with Beast Wars coming in close behind.

easily TF: Prime. It was my reintroduction to the franchise after my interest faded way back. I watch it annually to this day and enjoy it almost as much as the first time I had ever seen it.

Beast Wars and Prime are the best written. Cyberverse has been enjoyable while G1 does have nostalgia going for it.

My favourite is Prime Wars. Apart from the God awful voice acting of Menasor along with Computron and Starscream's not great voices and Megatronus' ugly design, I really enjoy it. In fact I rewatched all of Titans Return and Power of the Primes yesterday.

Megatron steals every scene he's in and he's genuinely funny.
It's great to hear Judd Nelson back in the role of Hot Rod. He and the writers really captured the essence of Hot Rod and gave him some amusing lines which Judd's acting really delivered nicely:

Obviously annoyed with the Basilica security, "I'm carrying the Matrix of Leadership!"
    "I'll think of something..."
Injured with the powerful Overlord standing over him, he defiantly points his arm weapon at him saying, "Suck. My. Exhaust. Pipe!!"

I liked Rodimus Unicronus too. He wasn't a sadist or a thug like Overlord. He was quiet but very capable and efficient in battle. Maybe it was the black colour scheme but he reminded me of an evil Batman.

Perceptor was nicely played by Wil Wheaton who avoided the stereotypical upper class accent of cliche scientists portraying him as down to Earth.

Michael Dorn also played Fortress Maximus well and I'm glad they showed his dislike for violence followed by his willingness to participate for the greater good.

Gregg Berger's return as Grimlock was enjoyable as ever.

You do feel for Megatronus slightly given his regret for killing Solus and poor Sludge getting killed too. Mistress of Flame also tugs at the heartstrings when Overlord steps on her leg with her subsequent screams of agony. She wasn't just a typical self important authority figure. She put up a good fight against Overlord. She wasn't just a victim.

Victorion was portrayed nicely too. She's not just another Autobot in awe of Optimus. She wants to lead herself. She's self righteous, arrogant but means well behind it all. I loved Windblade and Perceptor's reaction to her line, "I am concocting!!"

I think they caught the essence of each character nicely in the show. It's not Shakespeare but I do find myself coming back to the series more than any other Transformers show.

The animation models were nice updates of G1 thankfully instead of another stylised aesthetic that Hasbro have been too fond of in the last decade. It was nice to see G1 characters in a well animated show.

The background music was great. I love the music as Hot Rod leaves the Primal Basilica. It was slightly reminiscent of the 86 movie while being a suitably cool and catchy bit of music in itself.

I liked the slightly other worldly music in different scenes with Solus Prime.

Anyway, I know most fans don't like the series but I did. Since I was a kid, I wanted a well animated G1 show and despite its flaws, this hit the mark for me. (Pun not intended. My real name is Mark).

Personally, I felt Judd was one of the many weak parts of the Prime Wars stuff. Then again, I wasn't even a fan of his performance in the 86 movie. I very much preferred Dick Gautier's rendition due to the added dimension and depth it had (plus, like all the season three replacements, Dick got much better material as both Hot Rod and Rodimus), whereas Judd just felt pretty off a lot of the time in the movie, and in Prime Wars, he is just as disappointing.

I would have preferred if they had kept Ben Pronsky. Although I hated how Rodimus was handled in that whole trilogy, Ben sounded a lot more natural than Judd.

I liked Ben Prosky in Combiner Wars but Rodimus Prime was my favourite Transformer growing up. I didn't see much of Season 3 but I did love Judd Nelson as Hot Rod. I loved seeing him cameo in Season 3 of Animated too.

Yeah, personally, I was never big on his take. I always felt Dick Gautier was much better in the role. And I can't see anyone else nailing the Optimus/Hot Rod battle in Dark Awakening, the stress-ridden Rodimus and Hot Rod in Burden Hardest to Bear and the insane Hate Plague-infected Rodimus as well as Dick did.

And Judd's cameo in season three of Animated is, for me, everything wrong with that show. It was just needless fanservice. And it didn't add anything to the overall plot.
