If the MCU's Fantastic Four needs to distance itself from the Incredibles for the sake of avoiding comparisons, then the Mole Man may need to be scrapped. He and the Underminer are too similar. But there are other distinct villains: the Mad Thinker, Red Ghost and his monkey army, Diablo the magician, evil Reed Richards... we'll see who the MCU allows in.
If they decide to try The Negative Zone again (which "Planet Zero" from Trank's movie might as well have been), Annihilus and Blastaar would also make decent beginner foes while keeping the scientific explorers aspect.
This is probably the MCU adaptation I am most excited for, because besides cameos in shows and movies, we never got a decent Fantastic Four movie that was respectful to the characters. I wanna see what they do with Marvel's first family, and fighting along side Deadpool, Spider-Man and all those other people.
I will also toss out that usually I'm a traditionalist and "What-If" seems to be doing their own take on this, I'd love for the MCU to do what Ultimate Marvel did and make "The Frightful Four" the team's Marvel Zombies counterparts. Even without the cashcow that was the "Marvel Zombies" franchise, I just thought "Frightful" was a legit good storyarc by itself.
That whole almost 3-year run of Ultimate FF was good. Right up until Millar left after issue #32, and the series (and pretty much the entire Ultimate line) immediately went to shit.
Trank gave us such a F4 mutilated adaptation. Annihilus was planned to appear in the Negative Zone in that film, concept art was made of him. Instead they fused him and Ego into Dr Doom and gave us a badly-composed villain. Red Ghost was a Russian scientist, just like the Vanko family in Iron Man 2. I can understand if using a Russian villain is risky, though.
Yeah. Though having him as a sort of Soviet remnant (a literal Red Ghost) could work. The Super-Apes might be a little awkward, though.
The Ultimate Marvel version of Red Ghost had him (later her) be a biologist who experimented on animals to make them "advanced" and capable of sentient thought. He experimented with Negative Zone energy and created a man-beast chimera who could create monkeys from its body, monkeys that could absorb and copy other's powers. One of the more curious reinventions Ultimate Marvel made.
It'd be cool if they start seeding him soon, but just little hints. Like, maybe a Latverian ambassador can be in a meeting with Wakanda in BP2. Then possibly a mention of someone who studied with the Ancient One is DS2. Definitely a mention of some sort in FF...building to a bad-ass reveal in FF2 or similar.
Keep Dr. Doom's origin out of the FF's. Also keep his iconic look. None of the metal skin look past films have had.
Their direct origin as far as how they get their powers, yes, Doom was never needed for that. But I think they should at least keep Reed and Victor's college age association, that's paramount for Doom's childish rivalry with Richards.
Them being rivals at college is fine. Just never liked Doom being with them when they got their powers and him getting powers from the same energy that gave them theirs. I've always like that idea floated around about their first film being set in the 60's and then them being brought into the modern time. The Negative Zone would be a great place for that. They go into it and not realize time moves differently in there. They think they are in there for a day or so but then find out 50+ years have gone past in our world. Mole Man should be in the 1st movie and recreate the cover on the first issue.
Well, there have been four attempts at making a good Fantastic Four movie, and somehow the best one remains the unreleased Roger Corman one from the 90's. So, at this point, sure, I'll take Fantastic Four the five try. It's only got to be better than the last one after all. And, that's not a high bar.
Well for Doom give him, his own limited Disney+ series about his origins, as for who will Fantastic 4 face against will the only opponent is to bring Frightful 4 into the big screen with it's members being just The Wizard, Paste-Pot Pete/Trapster, Malice (have a very different character from Both Alice Masterson's and Sue Storm's versions), & the Puppet Master.
Write it good, write it well, but make it happen EDIT: and for shits and giggles make Dwight Herbie and Michael Scott Moleman
I love Magneto's car. It's just a helicopter without the blades. LOL It's one really weird, silly cartoon. I love 60's Fantastic Four. It's the best Fantastic Four cartoon. You can't change my mind on this.
