    Was it last year or the year before when a lot of FT stuff was held at customs or returned because of the “Ages 15 and up” declaration?

    From what @Marcelo Antunes is saying the CE mark would mainly affect goods imports done by a company like TFS-Express / OmegaLock into the UK or EU rather than individual imports from ShowZ or TFS-Express China?

    Yes. Curiously, if this is the case, this would mean that buying from abroad directly would be better for a consumer.

    Anyway, before doing anything, I wait to verify what will realy happen. As I said, it might not change anything.

    Slight edited transcription of a FB discussion regarding FT or 3P being toys in the view of the EU regulation:

    FB Member: Extract from annex 1 of the 2009 directive
    ANNEX I
    List of products that, in particular, are not considered as toys within the meaning of this Directive
    (as referred to in Article 2(1))

    1.
    Decorative objects for festivities and celebrations

    2.
    Products for collectors, provided that the product or its packaging bears a visible and legible indication that it is intended for collectors of 14 years of age and above. Examples of this category are:
    (a)
    detailed and faithful scale models;
    (b)
    kits for the assembly of detailed scale models;
    (c)
    folk dolls and decorative dolls and other similar articles;
    (d)
    historical replicas of toys; and
    (e)
    reproductions of real fire arms.
    EUR-Lex - 32009L0048 - EN - EUR-Lex

    Point 2 seems to be enough for not having any issue if FT puts a proper phrase on the box…

    Marcelo: FT already puts the proper label (but also mentions that it should not be used by 3 less years old which invalidate the 15+ statement somewhat). If you analyze the examples in detail, you will note that it does apply to collection of “real” things, not things like transformers or aliens which are not real. This is because the regulations focus on the concept of scaled “models” of things that exist in the real world

    The backgrounds of a regulation such as this, in the case of that point 2, is related to models of real things. Obviously it can be interpreted to apply to things that are not “real”, but this is then an interpretation, and may be accepted by some and bot accepted by other.

    FB member: So we are back to base one: if the guy at the custom is in a bad day every its. Every item that doesn't smell right will be properly checked, otherwise it's just luck.

    Marcelo: Yes, in fact, it always like this generally speaking, but if there’s an order from upper officials, for example, to crack on any toys, then the custom guys will focus on them (please not that I am not saying that such order exists right now in this case, but by experience, every time customs info like this one circulates, there’s a specific reason).

    Also, depending on the country, they will check every item, and if the description is “toy” and customs are warned about checking every toy better, it’s basically an automatic action.

    Random question, do we know how soon after someone cancels a pre-order on BBTS that it shows up as available again on the site for an item that pre-orders are sold out?

    As I mentioned somewhere, maybe FT is going to use the RP brand to sell “premium” figures only, at a slight higher price. As FT is alreqdy “premium” RP, would be “premium premium” :p

    Is this actually at a slightly higher price, though, when you factor in that it comes with Frenzy (a $40 figure if we base it off the cassette 3 pack), which makes Soundwave $210 dollars, which is less than Tesla 2.0 and Chomp.

    I was not clear, sorry. I meant it was higher because the Taobao PO price is higher. But you are totally right, if we consider Frenzy, It will be cheaper.

    Still regarding this, it seems to me that part of the assumption of the rumor is that Hasbro is worried about MPs and MP selling numbers… I don’t think they are, as they are a mass market manufacturer and the real profit is for mass market products (they get more profit for things like Monopoly than TFs). In the case off MP (a niche market, for which the small number of buyers basically annull the possible profits of the higher price mark) their worry will be probably related to the IP, not direct price confrontation.

    I’d say it seems unlikely that we will see hoist pre orders too soon considering the grey prototype images were just shown for the first time recently. We haven’t had a (North American) preorder listed that didn’t include snazzy full color prototype images in a very long time, like the last one I can think of would be Outrider and berserk.

    Outrider will probably be next, as the final product was already revealed and will probably be released in a few months (which is the modus operandi of FT). In fact, the POs for Outrider AND Hoist opened some weeks ago in China and the release date (for both) is early next year.
