I always preferred them as a kid but they eventually were given away… and then I checked resale value on Ebay and almost executed my aunt. It’s not an exaggeration to say that she probably gave away $15,000 in crap.

So, I thought, “These were always the coolest sets I didn’t own as a kid and $300 is only a lot of money when you don’t have it. Imperial Trading Post it is.”

 

I mean, I don’t think I need to say that these were not my choices. My wife is fixated on European fashion and style, so our house is filled with pastel-colored crap.

Home decor should have three colors: gray, white, black. Brown for wood floors are fine. But that’s it. We don’t need to live in a tray of lipstick shades.

Those Piraes sets are fantastic. I have lots of castle sets I had planned on selling them and start buying Masterpieces with money years ago but I couldn't let them go   but still buying Transformers.  

 

Thanks. It is a bi-fold closet door. I can access it on the right side. 3 shelves fit side by side and keep my office more open length wise. I loose opening that door but the saved space is worth it.

Same same! Lego went the same path as TFs and GI Joes for me - sold out by high school, reacquired in the past 5 years. Found a photo of some of the Pirates sets I had in the '80s and a recent one from when I was test fitting what I'd recollected last year into a display case. The Pirates series that came out in 2009 & 2015 had some cool sets that I picked up and mixed in with a few vintage pieces on the top level; the bottom has the new Barracuda Bay set, the Brick Bounty, and the MOC build La Grenouille. I haven't reacquired any of the larger sets like Eldorado, Forbidden Island or the vintage ships, as I'm limited to sets that are mint condition and the prices for the big ones either Sealed or Mint Complete are more than the nostalgia value I have for them. Some of the prices now are   and tbh I'm not sure I have space to display them now either.

I also hunted down mint '80s vintage Castle minis to create little figure displays. The chest prints and shields can be hard to find with no wear but eventually got all the right parts to recreate the minifigs from many of the vintage sets.
