Eh, The Epoch Times is hardly what I’d consider a credible news source.
i like how they made sure the first 4 free sentences of the article were properly dripping in doom bait.
"The Epoch Times is a far-right international multi-language newspaper and media company affiliated with the Falun Gong new religious movement"
THE END IS NIGH!!!
Oh thanks for letting me know. I must have arrived at it via a URL that allowed the full article without a paywall. Here's a screenshot of it. ET's China coverage is pretty good. I can't speak for other topics. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
edit: TFW seems to be auto resizing it, probably due to the length, sorry. Moving it to an image host.
The lack of new FT pre-orders popping out of nowhere tonight is not making me more relaxed, as I hoped.
Quite the opposite, it's making me even more on edge.
Isn't December full enough?
Being Falun Gong and CCP China go together like hot grease and water their either definitely overstating it or definitely telling the truth
Yeah, so what I do is take the middle of the road approach: It would seem reasonable to assume there is likely an outbreak and a potential quarantine could happen in that area as a result, which is the same region where many 3P TF companies have production. So I share the news and assume (probably wrongly) that most people are intelligent enough to treat news articles the same way and ignore any parts that seem sensationalized about it.
the epoch times
Chinese govt lies. Chinese govt takes civil liberties from citizens. Citizens struggling to survive
I don’t doubt any of these assertions.
I'm not sure if the snide dismissive comments from a few here are revealing who the most ardent Chinese sympathizers are or just the people who lack the mental ability to filter news from any/all sources in a reasonable manner. Either way, it's amusing and noted. I was attempting to do a service by providing a bit of news from a region that might affect our hobby, as I have done with news regarding shipping/freight impacts.
I did not choose the source that happened to provide the first in-depth article on the subject, nor did I know it was one that triggers the weakest among us. My apologies for that. But mere moments with a search engine will provide you corroboration of the key fact of an outbreak and quarantines being enacted from sources that shouldn't be an issue for anyone, like Reuters: China's Guangdong tightens coronavirus measures as cases persist
Sure, but what does that have to do with the potential for more FT pre-order materializing with no warning?
LMAO! I wonder how many people here get that reference.
You're right to be on edge! With Chomp releasing in December and Rig releasing in November, yet pre-orders for the former going up before the latter, it's clear that FT is taking a Benjamin Button approach to pre-orders, offering them in reverse to throw the HasTak bloodhounds off the trail! They'll keep working backwards through the autumn and summer months until the pre-orders for Bandit go live a day before release...but the big twist will be that FT had gone out of business 6 months ago. Your move, Hasbro.
So a lot of speculating here as usual. I actually enjoy reading through this thread. I think they put Chomp up first even though it'll most likely come after Rig, is to show us they'll put out figures they have planned, one way or another. Hopefully this price increase on the two new figures are an expected contingency for the future port delay, and another possible shipping increase.I'd hate to see prices rise again for future POs.
I was referencing that Chomp, Rig, Jive and Phantasm have December as their release dates for some stores...
Yes, and I'm saying: FT can always pop out even more surprise pre-orders.
Anyone have a theory why they keep announcing things backwards? They announce Apache with a few months notice, then later the Insecticons happening before that. Then they did the same thing with chomp and Rig. Could we get Jazz/Mirage in Sept/Oct?
It’s almost like they are in a hurry to get all these releases out as fast as possible... time is of the essence.
