With combiners that is what it will always come down to. There are 3 modes, and a choice must be made as to which one is the most important. No matter which mode you choose, you will end up with some strange and inconsistent results in the others. Even the best combiner sets run afoul of this to some degree, depending on just how nitpicky and unrealistic a given purchaser wants to be in their expectations.

 

I feel a little ridiculous hoping that ANOTHER massive Devastator gets added to the world, but while there are things I like about all the existing ones none of them 100% say THIS IS MY DEVVY to me. And I'd really want to be sure of that before plonking down... a whole lot of money on one of these bad boys.

Toyworld Constructor "IS" MY definitive Devastator until something even more impressive and imposing comes along.

 

Alright I say this there better not be any issues with these when they come out Toyworld's QC Issues with their Constructor V1 should be a lesson learned of what never to do it has to be done right the first time with this version because none of you want to go through that again right?  now what is going to be the price for each of these?

Why does this keep getting bumped? I asked Brandon from the chosen prime. And he said he knows of several more figures unannounced by fanstoys but had heard absolutely nothing when it comes to
Devestator. 2 to 3 years at the earliest in his opinion. That's why I went ahead and bought Constructor V2.

G1 Transformers were never close to being in scale for alt mode. It's not a problem worth solving. If you want robots in scale, according to the cartoon scale chart, and you want cartoon-accurate bot modes (which I think is what the majority want), you just have to roll with the fact that the alt modes won't scale with each other. Bumblebee is already small vs the other carbots. The carbots are huge compared to the Seekers. Bonecrusher will be big vs Long Haul. And then there's Swindle and Blast Off.

Sure, you can tweak their alt modes to try to get them in some sort of scale, if not with other figures at least with their teammates, but like you said if you do that then they're not G1-accurate anymore. It's easier to just give up on alt scale entirely.

 

I completely agree, though there is just one combiner member whose altmode scale will matter to me: Motormaster. I'd want him to be comparable to MP-10 in truck mode. Of course, I'd still like him to be the same size as MP-10 in robot mode. If they have to cheat and make Motormaster just transform into the truck cab while the trailer becomes Menasor parts, I'm totally cool with that. Just as long as they give Motormaster little faux truck cab feet.

 

100% this. Scale always referred to robots. I think if you get alt modes in scale on a small group of figures in a team that is great but just an impossibility overall. The cartoon never had to accept the laws of physics, we do.

 

It's kind of crazy how well the Constructor set hits on most of these alt modes.

Unfortunately that looks rather pathetic and impotent, which Long Haul does not. They're better off sticking to a regular sized dumptruck model.

 

Have you seen TFM's IDW Stunticons? Motormaster is about MP-10-sized, the limbs are carbot-sized, and they look pretty great in robot and alt mode (waiting for the last car before I do combined mode). The only "problem" (not for me, but seems like for everyone else lately) is that he's Warbotron-size combined, not Constructor-sized.

 

I will have to wait for Alien Attack Toys to make the Constructicons alt-modes "in scale"
