Yep, for all the problems that figure has, the ball joints were not one of them. The arms can pose just fine, and I am sure Chomp will not suffer either.

I'm not thrilled by the ball joints, it remains to be seen how they will hold up. There's no diecast in the arms at least so mass isn't a big factor.

I was ready not to like him, the silver-green wouldn't have been my pick but in hand doesn't bother me.
Hi articulation in both modes could be better, but he does look good and still manages a lot of character in alt mode, despite everything I could list I'm enjoying him.

Getting him £50 cheaper wouldn't have hurt tho ;)

FT does no longer send prototypes to reviewers or even production copies. reviewers either have to pay for their stuff or someone sends it to them (don't ask me why one would do that)

What you see with a figure on a FT review is what you'll get.

Also, just caved and got an order at BBB.

$4 coupon and a leftover, price adjustment thing as PP credit made this a bit easier to justify. $180 is good. $200 is somewhat a ripoff but decent if you have to have it. It is likely the only Skullcruncher in MP form that will be made IMO.

Didn't they do something similar with Maverick? Didn't his manual have Quietus running down the side?

Mine has them as well. It's an odd choice but we'll see how it holds up. (It's an old joint, but it checks out.)

Nope, what you're seeing in FansToys' videos, and any reviewers videos from the last couple days is the fully released production model. It has ball jointed shoulders.

Personally, I'm not too worried about that, as it clearly has a different type of plastic holding the ball joint than the main body (I assume ABS), similar to a Gundam polycap. If the ball joint was going right into the shoulder piece, I would be more worried, but they've clearly thought it out enough to at least use a different material for it. I honestly assume (hoping) that FansToys has had at least a few pre-productions models of this figure kickin around their HQ since 2016, so I assume they've been able to see that the ball joints hold up enough that they didn't feel the need to replace them 6 years later...

Anyone gotten a ship notice from TCP? They said arrival in 2 days, 2 days ago, and it still says 'arriving soon!' on their site.

Are the gator mode hips ball jointed? I'm just curious if the shoulders might be ball joints to match that. I can't watch videos here so it will be a while before I can look at reviews to see for myself.

The 2 day notice is based on their expected incoming delivery, I assume from a tracking number. That leaves them vulnerable to the delivery not being delivered as promised unfortunately.

Just as long as they didn't charge you. I had some stuff come up and had to cancel mine for the time being.

Aren't the FT dinobots ball joints? I need to go check them now. But totally agree that FT is not thinking the fun factor through. It's all about presence for them

4 years ago, April 2018, Chomp was ordered.

Today, April 2022, Chomp was delivered.

It's pretty nice... Ball joints at least are really well toleranced! One leg's outward movement is a bit soft but the other is perfectly solid.

i actually prefer strong friction joints over ratchets on the shoulders and hips , quite a few bots have ratchets spaced too far apart , even mp52 ( first one to spring to mind ) suffers from this slightly on the shoulders which is frustrating

i honestly love the sound and feel of ratchets when moving them there really is something satisfying about it but thats the only thing i like

I preordered FT-26 Chomp with TF-21 Berserk on TFSexpress two year ago.

It keeps me wonder when I get notification.

I would prefer if companies don’t continue to implement designs that have proven worthless. Like ratchet joints that are not spaced properly.

But it is to no avail.

Same goes for hip skirts that are connected in the middle. No one (literally no one) wants to have that on their toys yet FansToys has it implemented on every minibot for no apparent reason.

Same here, I fine with ball joints, it's actually smooth and more pose-able than ratchet joints. Especially after I discovered the magic of "Future", ball joints is no longer a problem.
