My thoughts exactly. Both versions hit a lot of the marks with very few misses. With Perceptors transformation/alt mode I dont think either company will have to over engineer and complicate things so I'd expect a nice fit and finish from both, I hope. I can't say the same for all the other bots in XTB's recent list explosion of bots to come so even though I think their Perceptor should be good in the QC department, I wont be preordering it or any others because of their track record. I will be waiting for release and a couple reviews before buying.

Yeah. It’s not always accurate to the character but FansToys tend to give a more athletic/heroic feel to their bots. They’re able to really pull off that “chest out, shoulders back, chin up” hero pose. Takara go for more of that “crotch thrust, long legged” anime pose. While XTB tend to more of the “dumpy, boxy, awkward” feel. In this case, XTB are really nailing the pose and style of the character model image. For me, however, part of Perceptors appeal was that he was kind of that shy, nerdy but heroic character, not a frumpy chap like Seaspray or Hoist. Always kind of reminded me of Clarke Kent (not Superman, more the Christopher Reeve Clarke Kent - bumbling and a little awkward but also quietly competent and capable under the nerdy guise. FansToys does that well for me. XTB’s is a really great Character Model Percy but I prefer FansToys.

I'd say wait and see how this Locke reissue turns out. If it fixes every issue (so so many) from the first release then I'd say 'Locke was a screwup, they are sort of back'. If not then I dunno what to say.

It's annoying for me, if the preorders were not so blink and you missed it with fanstoys I'd be in on Tesla 2.0.

If I compare these two shots I don't see much different between the two. I like the blue tint of XTB a bit more it looks a bit darker, while FTs have a better head and face.

So you're right, the question is who will have the better QC

I was thinking about X-Trans, but then realized it wasn't 'toon enough to distinguish from v1 Tesla for me. Also I am leery of X-Trans. Their QC is hit and miss. I am going out on a limb and getting Toro as I wanted a Cliffjumper that went with MP-21 'Bee.

Why not ask this question when the Janssen hit the street? XTB's product won't sold out very quick, so you have plenty of time to do research before making decision.

That's my plan as well. If the reviews show good QC then I am in. That goes for Virtus too. I had my pre-order fully paid, until the whole mess with Locke. If QC checks out, I will reorder.

Dad bod, but with a little boy face! The big shiny eyes makes him look like a much younger version of Perceptor to me...

$140 for a figure from a Company that has a track record of figures that crumble like paper still doesn’t sound like a good deal IMO, but to each their own. Not trying to bash, but what you want, but don’t throw stones when you live in a glass house as well

PO dropped at TD for those willing to inexplicably pay $100 more. It's all yours.

If anything, I know US sellers will replace/refund it if it ends up being another Kup.

And yet, no matter how good the XTB Perceptor may end up being, and how many copies end up being sold, the Fanstoys version will still be sold out everywhere. :p

Not gonna lie, both offerings look pretty good. Just XTB's QC on plastic has not been too good as of late (my major concern). But as looks go, you cannot go wrong with either one. Huge plus for XTB for accessories and price! But I will be waiting for in hand reviews on XTB.

FT's slightly more heroic proportions will display better on the shelf than the toon-to-a-fault frumpy look.

Not sure about that little red rocket poking out from his belly when waist is swiveled though. o_O

My comment was more a light-hearted criticism of Fanstoys than anything else, really. They should be doing more to meet demand.

As far as XTB, I am looking forward to seeing their Perceptor. Hopefully it will be better than Fuzz...

It's funny cuz a few years ago $140 for a bot the size of Perceptor would have seemed too much. Those FT prices up so high, that $140 looks reasonable. :D

Will this push FT's price down?
