First ever MP Astrotrain IMO!

 

It's enough for the transformation to be not "hateful" (to borrow from the immortal words of Bobby Skullface) and I think FT will have another Figure of the Year Winner!!!

Trash, whomever made this is a garbage designer. I bet it transforms like trash. I bet it doesn't even have it's back thrusters.

Are you going to make the files public on Thingaverse or something, or are you just going to keep them to yourself. Also, which figure are you going to work on next ?

 

I thought you were joking earlier. Wow. Are you 3d printing from the pictures shown here? Doesn't look like it transforms but for some ppl all they need is the bot mode. Talent. Worth a third of Thomas lol

 

No files will be released. If anything, I just want to give hope to folks that can't afford Thomas or can't get a preorder that they can get an MP scale Astrotrain on their shelves with some creative workarounds. I'd still like to get official Thomas at some point, but times are tight right now.
BTW, the nozzles are a thing! There are no good reference images for Thomas' back that I could find, so I had to just come up with something. His panels on the back of the wings also need some tweaking still to print out better.

 

He's fully 3D printed with fully functioning ratchet joints. I never transform my bots (cuz laziness), so a bot mode representation of Astrotrain is all I need right now. My old bot mode stand in FCT Transportation Captain will handle alt mode duties from now on.

 

I won't buy or support a KO but I would be fine with FT doing a botmode-only Thomas figure. I'll never transform him either way, so I just need a nicely posable, durable, well painted, good material'd bot.

 

Although it's not for me for I need my bots transform, but that's amazing looking!

Nope. I designed him for my personal collection. I'm kind of doing my own MP-scaled "Transformers RED" line of bot figures using whichever company's bot mode I dig most as design reference for the character I want to make. I'm planning to also do my own non-transforming alt modes for some characters, which will display next to the bots I make.

 

Oh, well that’s a shame  . My wait for an astrotrain continues...

 

I'm sure more Thomas preorders will pop up again like Sovereign preorders did recently. Just gotta keep an eye out! =)

 

pls do an arcee...in my opinion arcee is the only transformer that shouldn´t transform because of the backpack

 

I plan on doing her, actually, since I agree that her bot mode and alt mode just don't work when they're crammed into one toy. I already started work on my next character replica figure though, so I won't get to Arcee for probably another 2 weeks or so.

 

Not willing to pay full on preorders, so I doubt it. I’d rather just get one of the older figures at this point.

It's interesting to see this sentiment on the board sometimes, that somehow designers/customizers are obligated to make their work available to everyone. I personally don't release files because I feel that anyone with the means to actually print anything should be building their own skillset up to make their own designs, which is what I hope to encourage when posting things I make. I also can't print out orders of something this complicated because I'd have to charge an arm and a leg for it. If a designer makes their files available, it's something to be thankful for, but not something that should be expected.

And since it's kinda a KO I could see you not wanting to distribute for moral reasons or because you don't want to potentially take sales away from FT for their original design. Not saying that's your reasoning, but it would be another a valid reason. It doesn't really matter though... The entitled will be entitled regardless.
