People need to account for how companies aren't our friends, they are a business. The sad truth is part of the large increase isn't purely because of external forces, its because they want money. I know shocker, but businesses want your money.

Meanwhile, while everyone is arguing over price differences between Thomas and Berserk, there are lunatics paying $150 plus postage for a Fanstoys box...

I'm guessing soon we'll be seeing those completely redundant QC Pass stickers going for $70 a piece. Maybe higher numbers for rarer QC numbers.

I don't understand the FT secondary market at all. IF FT and/or the retailers are price gouging, then there's little wonder why.

The ridiculous FT fanboys are the ones to blame for that... Who in their right mind would buy an empty box?

Well I can see someone buying an empty box to complete a figure or to replace their own damaged box but not for that kind of money.

I just as a person can't pay $200+ for a 9 inch figure, it just sounds like a waste to me....Like this figure looks beautiful, best astrotrain hands down, but the price is a no can do.

The real shame with FT's hardcore fanboys and how they inflate the market is I can't give FT a second chance on figures. I sold one-off and recently thought "maybe I'll give it another shot." I then looked up its price and decided its better to just consider the figure bad than pay that much for it.

Until someone buys it, it doesn't count. You can list things for sale for whatever price you want. Look at Sold listings instead.

Probably someone who already overpaid for the figure without a box.:lol

A lot of us don't like it but are still getting it because this is close to the very end of our collections. I'm sure FT's will keep making figures but for me and many, there are just a few we really need a nice version of to say we're there, everything else is optional...and this is one of them.

I'm still basically at the start of my collecting so for me everyone buying stuff at any cost sucks. Raising prices for future collectors :(

Even so, until someone buys it for that price, it's baseless and lacks evidence of demand at that price.
Okay thanks, so it's officially crazytown pricing. Good to know :)

Damn. Looks like an FT Phoenix box just sold for $61 plus shipping too. Mine are just sitting in storage under the stairs in the basement...

So you're part of the problem then. There are better, less pathetic ways of making money than to get in the way of people buying things they want just so you can prey on their desperation later.

So weird. I keep all my boxes for no real reason I can think of except that my figures feel less complete and less valuable without them - which is dumb because I don't give a damn about their value beyond their value to me on my shelf. Maybe I should sell the boxes off - my wife has been complaining that our storage room is overrun with them, and I have to admit that, if we ever decide to move, packing up all those boxes is going to take almost as much room as everything else we own.
