Because Breakdown and Wildrider were listed $100 or $105 by US shops initially?

With the way prices have been jumping every week since February, I don't want to think about what Constructicons might cost 3 years from now.

How about you read a little bit further then just the first sentence?

In 3 years, shipping cost will be normal again.
And all the figures will still go for the hiked price.
    Our poor wallet. Q_Q

I personally get the shipping thing and increase of pricing there. It's a real thing and needs to be covered by someone, usually the customer. But paying up front for a Fans Toys figure to be made on a one to one for each is just stupid. They know the product is going to sell, they always sell, even the crappy ones people complain about. For them to make a limited batch (if that's what's even going on) and then say "Oh we'll make more but you need to buy it up front and you'll get it in the fall" is a real reach for me. o_O

Again, that's assuming all this is indeed accurate and what's going on.

Manufacturers often do amounts that balance costs with number produced to avoid charging too much and to avoid tons left over. VERY few do orders based purely on demand (Super 7 comes to mind). How it often works is like this... They come up with a design, fit it to the mold, and the factory says "If we make 5,000 of these, the cost is $X. If we make 8,000 of these, the cost is $x-30." The manufacturer goes to their distributors and say "How many will you buy?" Distributor says 5000, so the manufacturer goes back to the factory and puts in the 5000 order. The distributor then contacts its main buyers who take 500 each, then the smaller businesses get to place their orders of 50 to 100 units. Once they are all sold, the distributor can go back to the manufacturer and ask for another run, if demand seems strong enough to support it.

$250 Constructicons? Who’s gonna buy $300 Constructicons? There’s no way a $2100 Devastator will sell.

After baba's email, I'm on the fence. On one hand, I really like the look of the figure, but on the other, I don't like the idea of having $220 sitting in flux until October, or possibly longer. If I decide to go forward, I would most likely use a credit card as Paypal would give me crap and put me through red tape if something were to go wrong after 180 days (October 28, 2020).

This reeks. I would have pre-ordered through BBTS if I knew it was available. The pre-order was only up for maybe a few hours before it sold out.

Has anyone paid the balance? It seems that most requested a refund.

There’s gotta be another shot a preordering with Toy Dojo or similar between now and October.

True, but I would have to troll those sites daily. I did that for Phoenix and it bore no fruit, so ultimately, I ended up getting it from baba... before the world went to crap.

Baba apparently issued refunds to quite a few people. I put down $9.95 as a deposit for the pre-order, so hopefully, I'll get that refunded if I back out.

I'd expect no more than $125 for each Constructicon if they are announced in the next year or so, and since it's a six-member team, there's no monster corebot to have to deal with. That said, they may bump the price per member little to spread the cost of whatever sort of combiner parts are needed like hands, feet, head, gestalt gun, etc. Maybe they include one piece with each figure. Man, I kinda miss those days when we'd get a combiner limb with a part for the gestalt included and get excited about how cool the full combined mode might be.

There's some debate as to whether it will materialize more as deflation or stagflation. "Unprecedented" gets thrown around a lot due to the uncertainty of what will happen. :)

Inflated prices, deflated wages, inflated prices with deflated wages (AKA stagflation), the house always wins.

I'm lukewarm on alot of the post-1984 stuff but this is really going to hurt when/if they do the Combaticons.

Thanks, I might give it a try. I'd actually rather order from ShowZ now that he has more available, even though the cost is basically the same. He's at least giving a quote for shipping at this time.

The color of your post gave me a fit and then melted my eyes out of my head, just so you know. When I become admin around here I'm going to banish that color from ever being a thing :p

We never asked the upfront payment or deposit from retailers. They only need to pay full amount when it is ready to ship.

Is it true that who pays first gets shipped first? :D

(Once the factory is ready to ship out.)

And there you have it, it's apparently just a thing those particular sellers are doing perhaps to try to push cashflow forward.

pretty much, but basically all US retailers got their order at the similar time if they purchase from us directly.
