Eh. The animation model for the vehicle mode looks more like the original toy. This is too tall and thick in the front, plus the curved front nose doesn't look right. Rollcage is disporportionate. Colours are just wrong.

I wouldn't really call his animation model "buff". It's just kinda chunky and bottom-heavy, kinda saggy, the way most G1 animation models are. Dunerider puts too much weight in his chest and shoulders, in way fairly characteristic of most FT designs.

While I concede points on the accuracy of the hip skirt, especially over Arkose, it really doesn't look nice in motion.

Clever engineering solution? From FT? Their engineering solution is "stick more hinges/swivels in the thing until it works". Takara and some of the more ambitious 3P designers will frequently do in one move with a cleverly-angled joint and creatively-shaped piece what will take FT three moves, all the while scraping and stressing parts past each other.

a bit too bright white. White is fine, but it should be a greyish white. Nothing drastic, just not so popping white

Really? Not only does it leave a huge gap in his back (while I'm largely ambivalent about that, I know that it bothers some people when that articulation is implemented in that matter), in this case, it also puts a gaping hole through his front, too. It's not a great look.

I don't really mean to be ragging on Duneraker so much. But of this new Minibot trio that FT's cooked up, he really seems to be the most underbaked of the lot.

I hope the white looks a bit spartly in hand, doesnt have to be metallic, but that little sparkly shine, to make it a little bit more prestine looking.
Same as they did with Roadking black pieces and Quietus purple gun, looks extremely prestine in hand, like it's been painted or something.
The test shot looks like they got the sparkly blue on close look, so just hoping that is the case for the white too.

Didnt need the chrome on hubcaps/wheel area, silver paint would have been sufficient, but it blends more with the Metal cage for car mode, so all good.

Yeah, really digging FT Duneridder and Sheridan. Hope Dunerider gets scheduled for 2020 too, vs 2021, as currently he doesnt look scheduled in yet (no preorders at the big NA etailers)

Kind of hoping the white wont be sparkly. As you point out, it looks like the blue does have that slight pearlescent finish. Personally that’s enough for me. If the white is pearlescent as well that’s just too much. A little subtle sparkle on the blue is enough. There’s already been a ton of justifiable pushback on FT over the metallic look they had on the previous painted shots of Brawn, Warpath and the Aerialbots. They look to have fixed that and we really don’t need them revisiting it on Beachcomber here.

Plus when they do that coating to white parts, it just makes it look pre-faded, like it was left out in the sun. Phoenix-X suffers from this appearance when placed near other figures with white parts. Sure it has some sparkle to it when in direct lighting, but the rest of the time it just looks like old, fading white plastic. The regular Phoenix with plain white looks better in that regard.

I know the regular white on Hydra bothered me to no ends that i sold him. But Pheonix and Spindrift and Rouge whites are ok. I guess it depends...

I'm actually pretty excited for the FT minibots. If they can conquer that paint scraping bullshit they have had lately, the sculpts are all awesome. Really hope they can get us a bee and cliffjumper that don't have giant clown feet or 95% of a car hanging off their backs. No need for real world car look either. Make it look like the show since as a kid I didn't watch real cars transform, i watched whatever the hell the animators drew as a vehicle mode.

Yeah, this has put me off many FT figures. I've always seen them geared more towards display only collectors, but I'm open to them changing my mind.

Well im a sucker for ab crunch but I don't care much for Beachcomber. I passed on XTBs so if they nail a smooth transformation this is a maybe
