Totally agree on price expectation. This isnt about fanstoys. This is a FOUR FOOT TALL TRANSFORMER. It just so happens that the most popular(for whatever reasons) 3p company is making it. I do think they make amazing figures and am all in on this. I want to see this thing in person. Never had any major qc problems with them so to me its worth it to show my support for city bots bc i would love to see them all tbh. I am lucky enough to have the space and (like most) have a working knowledge of how money works so i dont think ill have to cancel holidays or anything silly like that. I get that this isnt going to be for everyone and your comment is refreshing to see over all the usual "it costs too much/i dont like it" types. :)

So if the robot in question weighs 10lb..and we double its size..that includes mass..we get 20lb..now for fun throw in another 10 lbs for extra parts and plastic since its not just a doubling..we are at 30lb..so maybe 3x the mass or weight..we don know cause we dont have the specs..maybe 4 times the weight/mass if it makes everyine happy we are still only at 40lbs..anyone ever pick up a 100lb dumbell..any idea how much plastic and bits of diecast here and there it would take to get to 100lb..or even 50lb..you all have me confused

You're forgetting the 18 lbs of diecast in each foot and the 2lbs per finger.

I don't like Fort Max that much, but It would be incredible to look in awe at a 4 ft behemoth.

First person to take a picture of it sitting on a toilet reading everybody poops wins the internet.

Honestly I expect this to be expensive ($1500 at least), that I can handle and budget for... I have no where to put this toddler sized guy in my tiny apartment.

This is a total popcorn project for me. No interest whatsoever in owning FT stuff, especially not something this huge, but I do want to see it happen. For anyone who gets it, it’ll be an incredible centerpiece for their collection.

That said, I feel like $1500 is speculating way too low on this given what FT wants for their regular sized figures and the probable weight of this thing. Unless they can make it ultralight you’re probably talking several hundred dollars in shipping costs alone.

You are probably right, I guessed by taking the 4ft estimate, then divided by 9in Which is the rough size of the figures and multiplied that by $260 which is a rough average of their current figures then rounded up. I have no delusions this will be epic in price. The hardware for the joints will be a good chunk of the bill, then the thick plastics to cope with the stress of posing and transformation.
It will be glorious when it's all together though.

Not quite I don't think. This is a 3d object, so when height is the thing being measured then elongating the object to twice the height doubles the weight but we aren't just doubling the height. It's twice as big in every direction. So if it's twice the height, twice the length, and twice the width that ends up being 6 or 8 times the weight.

This thing will probably be delivered on a wooden pallet like furniture.

The Melodramatics in this thread is hilarious no doubt.

I'll laugh hilariously when the body only ends up being like...$650.00

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst. I already told my better half it will be 1200 bucks, to avoid discussions later on. If he ends up being 650,-, I am all for it though. Perhaps Fort Max will be one of those cardboard cutout kits that you need to assemble yourself. The box will be the figure itself.:p

Nope. Your confusion is understandable as this isn't very intuitive. Previous posts had explanation and calcs. If you scale something up 2x, i.e. double the height, uniformly in 3d, it is 8x the mass, not 2x! A straight upscale of G1 Fort Max from 22" to 48" would indeed weigh 100 lb.

And for good measure all its parts are only 4x stronger while having to support that 8x mass! So it's effectively half the strength. So if regular size had any strength issues, 2x size version might not even be able to stand its own weight.

This is the square-cube law, and is why sadly we'll never have real giant robots running and jumping around. :(

    Quite right, but not 6 or 8 times the weight - exactly 8! 2 x 2 x 2.
