I think I messedup here. I think it was XTB. The one where you had to pay a very expensive skeleton trailer no one knew about.
Anyway, all companies checkout the competition. Its how you come on top!

But going with the XTB example... over 1+ year and several re-designs... and the thing still can't stand up straight under it's own weight.

I had to wedge small foam blocks under the car limbs so XTB Menasor doesn't topple backwards and fall over. Heaven forbid trying to touch him!



Which just proves XTB is bad at designing and producing bots... and really bad at combiners. Bad design, poor tolerance, cheap plastic, "bad" factories, bad excuses et al. Which makes any/everything from XTB concerning the "right/proper/correct" way to design/produce something moot. Dead argument.

Just like XTB Kup aka Locke, XTB BlitzWing aka Ditka, XTB Dragstrip and on and on.

FT =/= XTB. XTB is bottom of the barrel in the 3P world... so to speak.

I'm with Mike---a bit of partsforming isn't a problem, like what most of G1 did--fists and feet, mostly. It's when you get "more than just pants, but everything from the neck to the knees is a big separate assembly" that it gets a bit ridiculous, and is then basically "a large articulated figure, that the team plugs into as decoration" rather than truly combining.

 

Oh, I agree that XTB's Menasor wound up a POS. And I'm not saying that FT's is going to be bad. I'm just saying that FT running into stability issues that are causing delays this late in the process because their CAD designs and resin prototypes didn't really account for how much diecast they crammed into the finished bots isn't just possible, it's probable, and it's been a concern some of us have been voicing since Spoiler.

And at this point, I'd really prefer they release Dead End on his own while they figure it out.

 

I do need another Goose and Maverick but I would fear an asking price with FT craze these days.

 

Technically the wrong thread, but I don't know why, if they had to make the skeleton of Menasor transform, they didn't choose Motormaster's "3rd" base mode.

Agreed @Hoffman . I think he also loves the sound of his own voice too.

 

The thing here is that in one breath you're saying that there's no way a company would start releasing limb bots before having a working physical prototype, but in the next you're agreeing that not only did XTB do that, but also with the redesign, failed to get it to work in the end anyway.

Now I get that you hold XTB and FT in very different regards, and that's fair, but FT arent perfect. They released a Hot Rod with a design that mean paint would chip straight out of the box, and they released a Cyclonus that scratched the chest during transformation and didnt address the problems until the repaint/reissue.

Its not out of the question that they had an amazing CAD design, had full confidence in it and went to work just like XTB did, and now they've run into a problem.

Bobby and everyone who agrees with him may be wrong, only FT know for sure. But lets not act like its crazy. One company has already made that particular error and FT, like all the others, also make mistakes and get ahead of themselves.

 

I think he's just having fun and enjoying starting and taking part in discussions.

 

Although that's kind of a prerequisite of a YouTube personality, isn't it?

No worries, yeah it was XTB with the extra trailer.

I wanna believe that their Defensor will end up better after what they had to hear because of the trailer fiasco (which I mostly ascribe to because of the accessory pack being separate more than anything else, since it was originally going to be included with the trailer), but with Fuzz being a bit of a trip and fall rather than a clear run for the hills, I say we'll have to wait and see if greener pastures come around. Not to say that Fuzz is bad, but there were some very glaring issues it had, along with a personal nitpick or two. Still excited to check my copy out once I ship it, though.

Thankfully it isn't much a pain on my wallet...

While I don't do anything on YouTube or (insert similar hobby/profession here), i've contemplated doing so many a time before (and I still kinda do to this day), and I can confirm that I fucking hate listening to my voice LMAO

(Though that hasn't been my reason of why I haven't, full disclosure, that i'd have to credit moreso to say, privacy concerns, among others)
