Νah its not poorly thought out. Its a design (the cartoon image) based on the fact that mass shifting has been achieved. As thus it works. Now translating that to toy/model with a decent robot mode requires a ton of engineering skill and quite advanced materials tech, still I think right now its impossible to pull off, either techwise, or financially wise. It is one of the most, if not the most, demanding of alt modes.

Not surprised, it's fucking BANDAI after all.

Compromised, yes, but it'd probably end up still being pretty damn good if your hypothesis rings true and the QC doesn't suck.

Think I may have finally finished Galvatron. Been toying with doing this for years, but until I had the new one in hand it always felt like a bad idea on such a sought after toy.

this thread seems like as good a place as any to post pictures.

Cyclonus is based off the toy and I did him a while ago. I guess Galvatron is just the same technique as Cyclonus. I just always had a feeling I’d like Galvatron better this way too. I LOVE Cyclonus matching up with the G1 toy.

don’t feel bad if this isn’t your thing.

    thank you.

it was more that threads like these often spend pages arguing over wether a toy succeeds or fails based of minor changes in hue. I don’t think G1 Galvatron has ever been weathered metallic. :D

How is the new reissue Scourge ??
Good joints and anything like the first (if you had it )
I actually was kinda meh about getting this but man, he looks so good next to Unicrons horsemen !!

Also, Cyclonus looks pretty good, but Galvatron looks ok as well but doesn't have the same oomph !! But that's just me.

Probably if he was the M model, it would have looked better. The purple clashes with Scourge and Cyclonus IMHO.

@harrismonkey you need to do the same with Scourge. Do this on his bluish/grays and they will tie in so much better

    Thanks.

Cyclonus needed to be this color.

with Galvatron I was less sure. Partly it was that I’ve always hated the way the treads on his upper arms look. They just look sort of cheap toy (Hasbro wide production run type thing). They needed something more.

I definitely like him more now, the big question is does this put him over the top against DX-9, or is that still my favorite?

    time will tell.

DX-9 lacks the premium paint and is less screen accurate, but he just always looked bigger and meaner to me, and those traits are so key to Galvatron.

As far as scourge, I do have the original but each has been transformed once and sat on my shelf for display. So I’m unsure. New one seemed solid though. I did have an easier time with the feet, but that may just be because I had some idea what was coming.

May go after Scourge eventually. The original toy certainly didn’t have a blue face either. But the blue never bothered me as much as the shades fans toys used on Galvatron and Cyclonus. (I also preferred the color of DX-9’s face, so another little detail there)

As far as the M model, it’s funny- I painted one face panel as a test and went back and forth between the two of them for days, maybe even weeks before finally deciding the color complemented the original purple a little better, but I was definitely on the fence. This might have been a good point to consider.

I myself am a big fan of DX9 Tyrant.
I have this Galvatron as well but I display my Tyrant only.
I just love the face sculpt on DX9s so much more !!

Now that you mention this I do recall seeing another 3P Galvatron (It never came out as far as I can tell) that was shown as a gray prototype but what caught my eye was the alt mode. It was sleek, no visible arms and not FAT. it was sincerely the best designed Galvy alt mode I've ever seen. Whatever happened to them.

The other option would be XTB, but who knows what happened to that project. Maybe Galvatron is just a hard character to nail.

TT's will be compromised, yes. You just don't get to that sleek alt mode by magic.

Τοyworlds. Yes you cant (right now), and in order to do it you have to compromise the robot mode. Just as Toyworld did with that prototype and just as Dx9 did.
