There’s some full reviews on YouTube. He looks great and value for money but not really MP scale or quality.

    Totally oversized for Seige...

My apologies. What I actually meant to ask was if FT (or other high quality 3P) generally have better quality than Siege figures.

From what I have seen with the Siege figures, they aren't as good which makes me a little worried about Siege Jetfire.

Isnt Jetfire larger than most Transformers though? Lore-wise?

You're comparing apples to oranges. Seige looks to be a good figure, but it's no masterpiece.

Depends on what you mean by quality. One of the things I value in Transformers is being able to repeatedly flip them back and forth without too much difficulty or fear of breaking it. In that way, mainline hastak releases will usually surpass just able any 3p figure. On the other hand, 3p figures are often more accurate to the source material (partially because they're willing to make the transformation more difficult to achieve better results in both modes) and made of nicer materials with a better finish and paint. I think most people would agree that Phoenix is going to be the better quality figure while Siege is going to be a very nice toy.

Fanstoys figures are typically built like tanks, but can be somewhat complicated to transform.

Yeah, I should've clarified: I'm not necessarily worried that they'll break from transformation but I do worry about them losing paint.

I think we call them engineering. No doubt sometimes engineering and building materials are intertwined, but in FT's case a lot of times as you pointed out the QC of the materials are not in doubt, but usability/engineering is a problem. Yeah, unless the stars happen to align, a company has limited budget. Materials, engineering, aesthetics need to be counted for.

This is not an either or for me. It’s a both. But considering this is a thread about Phoenix, I’ll stick to comments on that. I’m glad I got the reissue cuz I wasn’t that worried about paying gouging prices when there is an official Hasbro Siege coming, but in being able to get the reissue, I think he’ll fit better with MP.

I almost wanted to jump on this reissue but really the same issue stopped me as the first time round. I like this toy but don’t really feel anything about the character. He looks fantastic in jet, his posability in bot mode is a bit lacking. If money and space were no issue then I’d be in.

I feel like his size is an issue though, he’s just too darn big. I like big bots but this guy isn’t a city / titan or combiner so he seems a tad out of scale.

Siege has a waist swivel. FT, being way bigger and costing a lot more, does not. Even Kronos had a waist swivel (I preffer that over landing gear :p ).

What needs to happen is a Jetfire repaint of Phoenix with a VF-1S head.

He isn't out of scale in a Masterpiece collection as far as a majority here are concerned it seems. He's quite accurate based on the cartoon too. But yeah, he's pretty big.

This one actually isn't bad to transform...it's more like one of their Dinobots in that department.

And it does happen, a buyer tried that with me, but Ebay saw right through that crap. Now back on to Phoenix!
