Here's an idea...if you don't like Skyfire at all don't buy it! Macross makes all sorts of veritech figures for your enjoyment.

 

Chill guy, it's just a toy discussion. We haven't even seen the damn figure yet for crying out loud.

 

I don't think the MP one nails this:

They definitely based the design off it, but the proportions of the MP are off everywhere...and understandably as it has to transform, but nonetheless. And the head of the MP isn't really accurate to anything. To be fair, the head wasn't very consistently drawn...but I don't think it was ever long and thin like the MP's. I think it's my least fave official head. The head bothers me more than the hip kibble. I also don't like that they made him too big, but whatevs.

 

FT has also added toy elements to every release. So here's hoping we don't get the same Toon Slavishness that has made the official line total shit. And the Daca release look like hot dogshit. Did I mention Grinder doesn't look like the toon? GTFO

I had Kronos and for me he did look like G1 Skyfire. Qc and the other stuff is a different story. But in my display look wise imo Daca did pretty darn good. And I hope FT looks very similar to that tbh. I don't care for toy Jetfire. Even as a kid I disliked it. I would be happy if Ft Skyfire look exactly the same as Kronos. Knowing I wouldn't have to buy 3 to make one solid one like I had to with Kronos. With added landing gear, better qc and better plastic is all I need to be happy.

I agree completely, its alright, but they should have kept him on the back burner until a better design was figured out.

Fair enough but Kronos aside we don't have that with this character. Save the tweeking for another day. A lot more people would be annoyed at a highbred figure for this than if he stays toon/comic oriented. This is the look FT is going for and it is much needed. Anyone that thinks Skyfire toon version looks bad, good for them. This just wasn't meant for you. I think Chromedome looks stupid but I am happy fans of his got a version that more or less nails him. Wasn't over there trying to influence the designer to make it look like a totally different character.

 

Why is this thread getting so much attention lately? Has the eye gloss of Kronos finally washed off?

 

Fanstoys Skyfire needs to look g1 toon period! I do not agree with any macross toy influence on the design of this figure.

 

Anyone saying Kronos wasn't toon accurate in bot mode is just lying. LOL.

Indeed. A toy inspired Jetfire should be a totally separate entity.

Kronos does nail the look just feels like a cheap knockoff or I would be very content with him.

I will be shocked if there is none at all. FTs ha never done strick toon. I guess there is always a first. But I doubt it. Pretty much just dong the battle-mask feature will please most people.
