The boat mode is supposed to be the emperor's new clothes mode. People who like it will say the emperor is fully clothed and people who don't will say the emperor is naked. Notice that there's never been any confusion to the plane mode.  

If you've bought it though, you've earned the right to call it whatever you want. You can even put it to fire and call it the burning meteor fan mode.

 

I don't know why you keep saying that. It's way closer to the Argama than the Macross Quarter. Just mentally ignore the big square blocks off the side of the Argama, and you're like, 80% there. The differences after that are merely in terms of proportions.

For the Quarter, you're ignoring that only one arm on the Quarter is a flight deck (the other being a giant cannon), and the bridge section on the Quarter is way further back. Also, no "nosecone", while the Argama does.

If you ignore 20% of the Quarter, you're 80% there as well. Looks like a cross between both ships to me.

 

Jet and robot modes look stellar.

However, the cruiser mode... isn't an aircraft carrier. And I'm sorry, but a Broadside who isn't an aircraft carrier just isn't what I want. In fact, I'd rather have a Broadside who only has a robot and an aircraft carrier mode than a triple-changer that doesn't have a carrier mode.

I do like the cruiser mode, it's very SDF-1. But it's just not what I want from Broadside. If the figure gets clearanced (yeah right) I might get it, but otherwise... a very sad pass for me.

Since they're two separate companies, wouldn't that be more like "instead of poking the bear, it's like annoying the bear by throwing a tiger at it"?

... Similes killed my family, I enjoy torturing them.

 

I love this toy! And to those nit-picking over colors, not a good enough carrier mode, etc., I respect your concerns and perhaps even share a few of them, but if you recall Hasbro/Takara certainly isn't turning out a 3-changer anywhere near this level of aesthetic beauty and overall quality. I say it's full of win and minor flaws aside is a must own. As are most things from this company.

I love the look of his secret mode legs. I can't stand the G1-esque patterns on his legs. It looks like all you have to do is rotate the legs for that part of the secret mode transformation, so I'd probably just display him with those legs.

 

He looks awesome! I know it's his stock color, but that amount of gray makes him look cheap.

 

So fans project has stopped doing TF and moved onto Macross toys?

wow, he looks great! i'm a little surprised by how much bigger he is compared to the previous two.

i too will be displaying him in his "secret" mode. while i appreciate the rainbow-of-colors as an homage to the original, for me, it looked lame at the time, and still looks lame.
