Announced in the instructions for Revolver are two more FansProject toys named Recoiler and Riftshot.





Recoiler and Riftshot also appear on the back of Revolver's box...

As for who they are supposed to represent, some people are suggesting Rack 'n Ruin.

So really, the pieces are not useless to the figures that they come with.

Now for Revolver. In alt mode, we have



Which looks like a standard Roadbuster alt mode. With the additional pieces, it becomes



Looks great, and maybe some of you would say that this is what Roadbuster should look like in the first place.

But in bot mode, standard Revolver is this



With the add ons, he turns into "Ultra" mode



Which seems to be some sort of homage to the armored Dorvack Mugen Calibur by CM's



So the pieces really are ADD ONS that ENHANCE the original figure, which implies that Revolver is COMPLETE without them. They're much like what the Battle Tanker kit and Transformazing's Pandora Kit are. Granted, it would be better if these pieces would be also made available on their own and, presumably, cheaper (to be fair, we can't discount the possibility that this may actually happen). But the way these pieces are currently being made available may actually be attractive to some fans who like the play pattern, fans who see these as FREE BONUS add ons that serve as a reward for buying the mold more than once.

So can we really say that this is a dick move by FP? Some may say yes. But to me it's just an inventive way of maximizing use of the mold and giving fans reasons to buy in the face of looming competition from Hasbro.

Rack-n-Ruin, eh? I'm down for this since no other 3P seems to want to touch the character(s). Wish someone would make an Ironfist/Fisitron and/or Rotorstorm though.

Not really shitty of them.. He's awesome as is, and complete. The other parts just enhance him.

 

I kinda hope they include a replacement part to conjoin the bodies. Just saying.

 

A good update to rack n' ruin. I bet those armor pieces build him up like the old one use to. O wonder which one will come with the pill box missiles from tfcon?

Not being able to get a "complete" Roadbuster on it's own? Not so cool.

That said, the default Roadbuster is cool, and worth the price in my mind. I just dislike the practice of packing in parts of character A in with character B in general. I don't think it's evil or money-grubby, it's just inconvenient.

 

They could do a really clever Gutcruncher repaint out of Revolver and all the armor pieces.

 

Totally agree. Not only do you have to buy their next two figures, those two figures are just repaints of the one you just bought. So it will cost $200 to $300 for a fully armored Roadbuster homage.... but you get two green clones. Not cool. Is it too early to hope those armor parts get ko'ed?

 

Eh. They look awesome so I'm down for all of them.

 

And here I thought, based on the comic that came with Defender, Recoil and Riftshot were going to be Wrecker redshirts.

I'm with the crowd that thinks selling R&R with parts for Revolver is shitty. I'm not interested in a Rack and Ruin, or three versions of the Revolver mold. I want the armor and accessories, but I'll wait for a 3P accessory pack or build my own.
