It sounds like MM's trailer is going to be only used for combined mode and just the cab will turn into the robot. If so, that give a lot of room to store/integrate the combiner parts.

Personally I was hoping for Motormaster to be based on the IDW art, where the feet/lower legs and arms of Motormaster became the feet and lower arms for Menasor.

So far I'm loving what I'm seeing for Wildrider and Breakdown.

 

Lets see Liokaiser did it with 6 bots and the only part that was required was a helmet. So while technically a part former, it accomplishes 99% of what a totally integrated combiner would do.

I think he's in the minority on that opinion. Besides aren't all combiners in a sense stackables?

The Jet pack looks fine on the back and the "huge train front end chest" doesn't look any worse than the kibble we've gotten on regular figures. Not to mention the number sweet poses you can put him in.

 

Nope. He specifically said 5 piece combiners so your example is invalid.

If I remember rightly there was mention that only part of the trailer was used for combination, and that MM had a very G1-esque transformation. It looks like they're going very IDW with them, so that should be a good guide.

 

actually asked about that since it's a deal breaker for me. cab is the feet, no parts left over in the box in any mode was what i was told. so going by that, the whole truck and trailer should transform into motormaster.

 

As I've spoken about there are levels, if most of a combiner is extra parts, it fails, if the extra parts don't store or don't store well. I think the recent two devi's have been near perfect, only parts forming where they have to and hiding the extra parts well.

I'm interested to see what FP do with this, I thought cross fire 1 did this quite well in using/hiding the extra parts but cross fire 2 not so much. Also as some one else brought up they could go on to do the other scramble city style combiners, Onslaught and Hotspot both could offer up a lot of space to store parts, silverbolt not so much unless they change his alt. Scattershot, HunGrr and Snaptrap could prove challenging.

 

Kinda late but wildrider's alt mode is a real Lamborghini concept car its not a fictional car and I'm lovin it!

I love tripredacus, but I have to agree with the lack of articulation and slightly goofy looking weapon hands. Magnaboss though...mmmmm.

I don't mind trying to intergrate the entire gestalt transformer into the individual bots if it is done correctly. I think hasbro failed on the new bruticus but most of that failure comes from its lack of dominance. He doesn't have the impressive sense of presence like hercules or giant or colossus. He doesn't even pull it off as well as the original bruticus. My feeling is that the figure suffers from trying to integrate too much into the 5 individual bots. While I congratulate hasbro on trying they failed on their attempt. If FP found a way to do it all and its not a mess individually or combined id buy it but for now I think parts forming is the way to go.

Now that digibash looks mighty handsome, very Breakdown very lovely. Also Notormaster/Not-Motormaster will retain his classic G1 transformation of the truck becoming his boots..? Sweet, that was the one thing I personally was the most afraid off.

Also the fact that these Not-Stunticons are a Scramble City-styled combiner is just an added bonus in my opinion, heck would had been happy if they'd just been set limbs.

As for the whole partsforming, I don't mind partsforming as long as it is done correctly AND serves a purpose in either main Torso Bot mode or vehicle mode... While a no-partsformer combiner can be nice as well (something that Hasbro has proven us about 4 times that it is possible, sadly the last 2 tries were anything but successful). Never the less, as long as the partsforming for combiners is done the right way with all the combiner add-on pieces having a place on the main figure/figures (be it intergrated into bot mode or just weapons to use by the team) then I am not complaining.

So yeah, wake me up when these guys go up for (pre-)order on BBTS, TFSource, Gerrutcamaro.nl, RK, CP, etc. cause I can not wait to buy these guys as my long awaited holy grail of holy grails..!
