No, it's always been this design. The earliest pics were just carefully taken from angles that hid the kibble.

I really hope that they'll end up having more differences in their color design placement between the two, because in those pics, they're painfully similar-looking to one another. I mean, I like clone characters, like Reflector, and Pounce/Wingspan. But these two look similar in both of their modes.

 

They need to change the red to blue or something.  

Also I plan on naming them Sheik and Slush  

 

cool, a female dinobot, and its a patchy. i'm cool with this. this may be the only one from this set i buy, unless they also do a ankylosaurus.

Officially? No. Unofficially the raptor is Slash, and people have been calling the pachy Smash.
