This figure has a mold brother: Trianix Alpha which is based on Diaclones (a line that predates Transformers). Diaclone figures typically come with small figures.

Takara Tomy is actually issuing updated Diaclones. I have one of them Big Powered, and he is amazing. The playability is off the chart.

Probably a reference to the three Powered Masters and/or their Micromaster partners. Dai Atlas was part of a three-bot team, so the three little guys is a reference to that fact, and to the little partners the Powered Masters came with. (I'm talking of course, about Dai Atlas & Speeder, Sonic Bomber & Sonic, and Roadfire & Drillbuster.)

Still really pleased to have this guy in my collection. I recall having to tighten up some joints, but after that he's gold.

Okay, picked up a low cost Dia-Z on ebay and it had the comic.

    My synopsis:

    --

The story is the fourth part of the Warbot story. The plot follows the Alpha Dai-Z and his three Soleron companions Driller, Speed and Ultra Sonic as they launch into a battle space. They are sucked though a spatial distortion field and end up in the middle a land battle between Alphas and "the Horde". Dai-Z fights bravely to delay the Horde as Melix and others reach the safety of a ship. Although they escape Dai-Z seemingly dies from his wounds. His friends morn him as Casper concoles them on their loss. Steel Core says Dai can still be saved. Balthazar says their usefulness as Trianix Alpha is at an end noting the greatness in the newcomers.

    --

The "Horde" are a bunch of multicolored Insecticon-ish guys.

I think I identified the Trianix Solerons correctly, but not 100% sure.

We see one Trianix Alpha vehicle, which is badly damaged. It seems to inply the other two were destroyed. Seems like we missed a story of Trianix.

So then The Horde are Wardars, and the idea is that the wrecked Trianix Alpha is to be rebuilt into Dai-Z?

Not unless you like it that way.
Put some sauce (aka Future Floor shine) in that joint. You could also open up the forearm and put some other friction in the joint (tape etc).

Much bigger box than previous Warbots and no clear outer plastic box.

I just got this figure yesterday from Ebay. Its fantastic except I can't get one of the smaller wing pieces to stay tabbed in to its bigger wing. I just transformed him into the 3 smaller vehicles and going to try the big ship mode later.

I know FansProject made a Sonic Bomber, but do they have any plans to make a Roadfire?

Their future direction is up in the air, aside from repaints of existing molds

the only new mold seen is Kastor Core, a version of IDW Roller

It's been a while since I've played with mine but I distinctly remember one of the joints on that double jointed elbow were looser than I would prefer on both Trianix Alpha and Dai Z
