Seriously, I like the FT sculpt, but this gold door thing is such a strange choice. If they made it yellow, I doubt anyone would have asked for it to be gold instead.

 

That bling chest is weird. I never had g1 blaster as a kid, but the chest was yellow on the toy, right?

Exactly! Just their build quality and paint job is enough to make their products stand out normally. In this case they could have made him stand out by not making the joints black (like DS did) but dark gray like in the cartoon.

Have to say, this reveal felt like a slap in the face. First because of the awful gaudy gold chestdoor and the weird hinge on his forehead, but mostly because I ordered the FT-55B cassette pack that was first sollicited as being all 4 cassettes.
But now, they changed that and Rewind is coming with the Blaster figure that I don't want anymore.

I would like for it to come with a separate door option but I like the gold door. Many will disagree with me but I think it would look even better with a very rich deep metallic red like the KFC version but lighter. It would work incredibly well with the gold door.

The gold chrome is just a disastrous decision. They need to dump that, just like the short lived maetallics on Brawn and Warpath.
It’s not hard. Bright glossy yellow.
And then they do the hands in the correct dark grey but leave the thighs and biceps black?
Pick a lane FansToys, either go toon or just make sh!t up. But don’t try and do both.
Faces are kind of doofusy but not eh end of the world. The ugly box on the forehead with the red seeping through the edges… what the f?
Cassettes look great but there’s just so many small but significant missteps with Blaster himself. I’m really torn at this stage.
Whoever I get will need repainting. DS needs thigh, biceps and hands repainted (and painting hands sucks!!!) while FT needs thighs, biceps painted and the chrome stripped off the tape deck and repainted in yellow.
This may just be a case of hold off on all three and wait for FT to do a recolour. Super disappointed with this reveal.

 

I like all the gold/shiny/chrome touches FT gives to make their figures more premium. But this is pushing it! I'll stay with the DS one.

 

One of the things I don’t like about the gold is that it reflects the buttons and makes the overall look even messier than if it was non-reflective.

The gold chrome is a... bold choice. It looks fucking awful.

 

i no agree the face sculpts (I refuse to say portrait) have gotten worse.

 

Yeah, it’s acceptable for small details, like the metallic red lights on Blasters ankles but it’s WAY too much here.
