If it’s heavy enough that I can’t lift it, it’s gonna be FT’s finest hour! Maybe they can license the mass of a Porsche but maintain cartoon accuracy.

I prefer the more toony, slightly blockier look of Jive compared to Downbeat. Always thought Maketoys makes cool stuff, but the FT fit in better with the recent MP look to my eye, and that’s where my baseline is at the moment. Sometimes they get TOO blocky, and those aren’t my jam. Both really cool looking figures tho and seems you can’t really go wrong with either.

Admittedly I'm tempted to stick with it as my main. I love the white thighs and blue headlights on the FT version so much though. Also the FT version has a cleaner car mode. But it will probably be more difficult to transform into car mode.

Honestly I would've been perfectly happy with MT Jazz and TE Mirage going forward if the FT options didn't exist.

Which is why I wish FT had started with some of the other carbots instead, which are showing far more age. FT Jazz alongside the Takara Datsuns is just gonna clash so much. Whereas FT Datsuns next to Maketoys Jazz would've looked great.

I adore Jazz, and really like Mirage, but this.

I will kill for anyone to make a new Sideswipe, Wheeljack, and/or Datsun mold.

I simply refuse to believe FT would dare make a Jazz without including the grappling hook. It's his most distinctive feature. Don't worry just because it's not in the initial promotional pictures. That radar/targeting eye/head for Tesla 2.0 wasn't in their original pictures either, and then voila, they included it. They're probably just figuring out how to design it, but I'd be absolutely shocked if it wasn't included when it's all said and done. I'd expect something similarly snazzy with Mirage too, like the parachute or the invisible rectangle tube or something.

So this heavy? Remember to lift with your legs.

I’d go for a new Sideswipe/Red Alert mold but after they release all the other stuff.

Oh, I have downbeat, and alert his robot mode is really nice, I have never ever had a nice thing to say about how car mode. I can't stand what they did with the back end, it's unforgivable.

Downbeat is ok. But I think his helmet to face ratio is off. He also has weird knees that are a bit too high on his legs. The silver thighs were purposely changed to be inaccurate. The original Downbeat renders had white thighs with the toon accurate notches above the knee. And the alt mode rear is an afterthought.

The thing that bugs me the most about Downbeat is the red strip under his chest hood never wants to peg in right. There always a gap. It's always on show.

A lot of people don't like fanstoys and I can respect that you like what you like, but whenever you speak highly about fanstoys some people get on the attack and try to bash you for your comments. My mo is if the price is a factor for you don't buy it if you don't like the designs don't buy it. But personally I think it's the price that turns off a lot of people, for me I think the prices are high on the other hand I think the quality justify the price. When takara release figures with $450 price range with cheap plastic broken knees you don't hear much about it, but when fanstoys is asking $150 or $ 200 it becomes Armageddon.. just my opinion

People pounce on FT collectors because there is a segment of them that constantly denigrate and put down other companies. This is the reason you get the pushback. In general, I find that respect begets respect and vitriol produces more animosity.

People constantly complain about higher prices regardless of brand. When MP-44 dropped, all you heard about was the ridiculousness the price tag. FT pricing has increased and many are not happy about being excluded.

It is to keep collectors in the market longer. Same thing with them starting with Chromedome instead of Brainstorm/Highbrow. Even if a group of people won't buy the figure because they are good with what they have there will be people who switch out either immediately or over time as their will weakens. On the other hand if they started by filling holes replacing the bad figures like MP Prowl etc then collectors would feel they are good enough and tune out the news and not even see their upgrades and thus not even be tempted to buy.

it's really under appreciated how cool it is that they are filling the gap under the front bumper in bot mode

Exactly, Chromedome is the perfect example. Why would I as FT allow MT Cupola or Ironwill to survive? I am providing you with a superior matching set. MT could have finished off the HM and even done the Decepticon ones but they didn't. I want people to buy my set. I will tease and show renders of the missing ones but you damn sure better believe the first ones I am releasing are Chromedome and Hardhead. If they ever did the TM Pointblank would be the first. If someone like XTB does TM, they will do Pointblank.
