Transformed Jive for the first time today… yeesh.

FansToys started the year with a number of figures that had me thinking they were finally creating accurate figures that didn’t always have to be a chore to transform, but Phantasm and Jive have showed me those early 2022 releases were the exceptions. Phantasm wasn’t too bad, but the delicate chrome that came out of nowhere soured me on him immensely.

Jive feels like somebody picked up the MP Datsun mold and said “this is great, but how can I make it as annoying as possible?” I was really hoping they’d capture the same magic they did with Rig again.

All that being said, these two are still going to be my Mirage and Jazz. Ultimately I’m going for well-painted display pieces, and for all their troubles, they hit that mark excellently.

Here’s to hoping Cliffjumper and Powerglide are less of a chore to interact with!

 

Isnt well painted display pieces all they are. I certainly dont transform them but I like that I can. I use mainline figures to fiddle with.

 

It's a Christmas miracle! Jive has arrived from TFS today.

 

I got my jive in the mail today from tfsource. USPS estimated Jan 3.

The ignore list must be working its magic yet again, I blissfully have no idea what you two are talking about!

 

I also transformed Jive for the first time today (just now), and I don’t think it’s the worst FT transformation. But if I were making a ranked list, it wouldn’t be in the ten best, but would live in the area where the rest of the cars are. I see a pattern- fans toys cannot design cars. They can do trucks and planes and guns and ships, but proper cars, they really seem to struggle with. Right Bandit? Anyway. The modes display well but I will likely not do it again, unlike Downbeat. Or the Newage Jazz.

 

I do wish his gun was chrome...like the G1 toy.

Maybe FT can do this for Stepper?

OK, I must have gotten a dud....the knees popped into position with no filing, the shoulders (though a bit tight) rotate without the peg coming out, the top of the head sits flush, I was able to transform him without the paint job going on strike. Should I contact The Chosen Prime for a replacement?!?

I usually buy the NA legend versions of my masterpiece toys and display them together.

I'd not considered myself in for this guy as I really like the Maketoys release, but this shot is absolutely superb. You're testing my resolve, dude.
