If you are serious I can, I am in a good mood today and I am tinkering with my collection as we speak, so I can do some measuring. Is a Toyworld Scrapper and Fanstoys Breakdown comparison desired?

 

Plus there will be some kind of arm-construction Smokey will be latched on to, I assume. So let's add another 100 grams to his weight? I think that's fair for an plastic sheet arm and a full fist.

I refuse to believe they put so much effort into each individual bot but then neglected to thoroughly test the combined mode. In my mind, I'm thinking maybe its something more like they had a solution that worked well, but maybe covid drove up the material cost of that solution and now they're waiting for the prices to come back down? Or maybe covid drove one of their required partners out of business and they can't find a suitable replacement that is of comparable quality? It has to be something like that. Again, I refuse to believe that such a foreseeable issue as weight is the problem here...

I would love to believe this, honestly. However the fact that they’re still releasing other new figures and designs (some had design images and releases take place in the span of this “drought”) leads me to believe otherwise. I really do think they found a major issue with combined mode. It was running really smooth with alternating releases of the Aerialbots and Stunticons, then suddenly both froze and are replaced with other individual releases and zero communication from someone who was previously very active and interacted with fans. That’s not a coincidence.

 

I wouldn't be surprised if the sudden massive push to get Soundwave out the door and Fort Max finished was to try and distract people from them having problems with both combiners.
Cause if it the delay was due to issues beyond your control like a partner going out of business rather than something they may have messed up, they wouldn't have gone radio silent on it and be pushing out a bunch of other stuff instead.

Does this mean we can put to bed the theories about limb weight causing issues? Maybe this is purely down to the daft idea that the gestalt mode has to turn into the 2nd trailer and that is what’s causing the issues?

This and the fact that FT is having to buy a shit ton of plastic to create this behemoth!

Or maybe the designers could be suing them for some sort of breach of contract? Could the delay be the equivalent of a cease and desist order? That would explain why they're still releasing other figures and might even explain DalianJJ's radio silence. Maybe he didn't want any of his responses to combiner-related questions to be on public record? Meh who knows, just spitballin' here...
