I’m always amazed how so few 3rd party transformers release before Xmas though ...I would pick up MM in a heartbeat if I could get it for Xmas.

Very well designed. If he was DX9's Carry's or UT Peru Kill in quality I would be happy with it. Engineering is great. Execution is awful when they are now competing with XTB who have massively stepped up and FT who (In fit and finish) can't really go any higher - DX9 failed out of the gate

Exactly. Regardless of the type of product, sacrifices are always made for the sake of time/cost/schedule. In this case the 4th dimension is reality. When you're trying to create a physical object based on a medium where physics is known to take a holiday, it's nearly impossible to get a figure completely accurate to the source material.

Honestly I'm still gobsmacked that we've gotten the level of toon accuracy we have for the Masterpiece figures (official or not).

 

i think this is going to be my motormaster and xtb for the carbots ... been comparing all 3 motormasters and this is the closest but comparing what we can see of the cars and xtb albeit smaller have all 4 pretty much bang on.. what we can see of ft's carbots they are just not it for me and dx9 yeah not in the running at all with the 2 we have seen

said it before combined mode with the stunticons is not for me but love individual robot designs , xtb would need to redesign their motormaster to win me back on that one but think they will probably stick with what they have

mix n match ftw so happy with have a few options to choose from

The colours, sculpt, articulation, alt-faces looks good. but im worried how out of scale hes going to be, how out of scale ALL of them will be.

If this is the scale difference between the BOSS bot and the minions


...and the minions are equal to seeker height...


...then Motormaster is going to be WAAAY too tall, hes going to be towering over megatron, like almost Ultra Magnus height.
Zeta is guilty of this too, their combiners are awesome but the boss bot is waaaay too big, onslaught is massive and he dosent even need to be with the combiner pants... same thing will happen with their aerieal bots. itll throw everything outve whack.

 

i'm ok with motormaster being bigger than megatron same with onslaught

I totally agree, it seems like FT is being a bit reckless with this set and just trying to quickly get it out rather than get it right. Hopefully, all the pressure from people asking that they speed up their rate of release isn't getting to them and causing them to make mistakes.

Just remember FT, NO ONE WILL COMPLAIN IF YOU'RE LATE AND GET IT RIGHT, EVERYONE WILL COMPLAIN IF YOU'RE ON TIME AND GET IT WRONG.

I think the larger scale of FTs figures is due to two factors: 1) The limb bots are typically drawn larger in the toon (though not always) and are often close to seeker size and 2) they are trying to scale Menasor with Terminus Giganticus. By having larger bots, you can get a larger combined form. Either that or you have to cheat to get the larger size.

 

I thought it was more because of Dalianjj's 'mwua, this is gonna be the biggest combiner to date!'.

Well... I'm blown away with what I've seen thus far. IMO, this is the most impressive of all the reveals.

I don't understand how Roadking/Motormaster can include the entire trailer in a relatively small figure. Takara's MP-22 (Ultra Magnus), in comparison, is significantly oversized in bot mode. DX9 uses the trailer for Menasor's skeleton... and the trailer is oddly long.

I can't help but wonder if this is Fans Toys going after DX9.

 

Holy crap, Megatron's crotch appears to be a bit higher than MM's lol. I know lots of people love MP-36, but I think it's rather ugly. Just my opinion though, please don't start lighting the torches!
