IMHO, what's unfun is trying to figure out FT's transformations on your own. I usually allow other people to do the struggling for me as as result I found the transformation on Hydra fun enough.

 

I think I'm slowly coming to the conclusion that I don't really care to transform my figures. Yeah, it's nice to know and admire the engineering involved when transforming... something like RK is "this turns into what?!?" For me, I'm super careful when I do my transformations and it takes me forever. RK took me nearly 3 hours to get from bot to truck... zzz...

I don't have enough Generation Toy figs to say for certain, but have OP.EX and their Protectobots and I think they've been the most fun and rewarding transforms on average. Don't have to TFM Stunticons to say definitely...

There are also figures where I never cared for the alt-mode at all. IT-01 not MP Megs... never transformed... RH not Soundwave, transformed into bot mode and he's stayed that way. Quietus and the rest of the samurai squad... bot mode and that's it.

Been getting into 3A and Flame Toys as well, don't have to transform... that Unicron "lamp" might have been a buy if I was collecting back then.

The redisgn looks dope. Glad they opted to add some detailing to the tank and not leave it otherwis bland.

My only second thoughts are, that in bot mode he looks.... a bit slim, but with colour that might not be the case.

 

BBB movie deco digibash is long over due.

 

I hope they put two heads with it. I really liked Ditka's first test deco, which had the toy head with the purple face. That's a good look.
I almost always want the toy heads, and Blitzwing is no exception. Takara never includes alt heads but many 3P MPs do.
Quietus has a rad alt head, a weird one too (which I love). Alt faces are nice but I really hope to see the toy head on this one.

 

Jet mode doesn't look like it has landing gear.

 

I dont mind a little partforming to get something like that, to be honest. I mean, its just a small part and if partsforming can get the job done without being too significant, i can let it slide

 

This looks as if it could fold out into front landing gear

 

Trust and believe it will have landing gear. No FT jet has ever been made without landing gear.

 

Really appreciate the guys at Fans Toys throwing those who have been waiting for new info on this guy a bone here.

Any qualms are VERY minor, I think the improvements are pretty sound, tbh, and bring him in line nicely with the chattanoogah choo-choo I'm admittedly anticipating even more.  

Clearly back on top form with Quietus/Roadking.

Just wish they'd done a dedicated overhaul like this with Hoodlum but you can't win 'em all. Maybe they will after the Seaspay do-over, and Tesla too: the only weak few figures in their entire back catalogue, imo.

It's only really the upper legs lacking his trademark inward curve for me, tbh, but fair do's.

Tesla I will never understand how they couldn't get a better likeness with the face, like when they went back to the drawing board and nailed it with Willis, or example (still better than the official Hound, IMO.)

Think we had a poster back then called artistvideogame(?) who did a perfect mock up, as I recall.

I dunno, to give them their due, they have put the extra work in and MASSIVELY improved on their weakness to the point more recent FT releases have sailed though the whole face sculpt issue with flying colours (esp: Koot, Sovereign, Phoenix, Quietus, Roadking) and it no longer feels an issue.

But back then they seemed to struggle. Turning point was the latter Dinos when they redid Snarl and Swoop, I guess. Didn't really look back after that. My most wanted, Astrotrain, for example, looks absolutely perfect. Would he have with the FT of 4 or 5 years ago? Not so sure.

 

So showzstore has a final price for this is that based on the old design or new?

 

They did update their listing with the TFCon slide and kept the price the same. So assuming the price is what it is.

 

Hopefully this version doesn't sit around for another 3 years.

 

Only problem I ever had with the kfc one is his head doesn’t turn without popping out his chest. Regardless, this is def on my radar again.
