They aren’t scratches. They’re injection “seams”.
QC 30 on the ball then. Same one i got and initial thoughts are that he is what I expected. A little shorter than i thought he'd be but great presence and nice color break up on my movie shelf. Will follow up after i get a chance to fiddle with him more. Ankles are good, could be better imo but will definitely hold a pose
And yes that is a g1 blaster place holder
QC32 - although I blame whoever assembled the ankles far more, lol.
After inserting some gel control super glue into the joint, my figure can finally hold 95% of the poses that I would like him to. I suppose that ultimately, I'll keep him as my Springer as long as he doesn't take that fated shelf dive from my top shelf. Lol.
Does anyone know if superglue if effective long-term? I've had to tighten joints before, but never anything as weight bearing and crucial as an ankle...
I have a video saved of the pre-glue floppies that I'll send soon.
QC 34 failed me for the 2021 reissue. His left ankle is good. Right ankle is like 50% floppy. My copy seems to stand up fine and I can do a one leg stand, so I guess it's better than want has been reported
I got QC 21
Floppy ankles on both
And paints chips
Ooh that’s rough. I’m getting a little worried about the quality slowly dropping with each release.
FT gotta get their QC team #1-10 back in the game. Get the band back together and show QC 30-32 how it’s done.
I got mine this afternoon, qc 30 again and floppy ankles. No paint chips though.
I've not transformed it so haven't got a good look at the ankles really, but is this just a screw tightening issue, or does it need some of the oil that people use to make the joints stiffer?
Got mine today as well. QC30 like others; no chips, tight ankles, solid overall. EDIT: Mr/Mrs/Miss QC30 is just fine, I misremembered what folks said earlier. Sorry QC30!
Chopper mode is tight, love it. Car mode is great up front, but legs seem awkward as sin. Doing them wrong maybe?
The instructions are pretty shite, worst part of the set
All in all, very happy.
EDIT: Not a lot of ankle articulation, no sideways movement? Probably have him mistransformed. It's hot as balls today, will look when the Sun goes down.
Welp, BBTS found inflated extra stock...
Waiting for mine to ship from TFS Express still - long wait because of their warehouse issues which is annoying - anyhow decided to pop a Virtus pre-order down on ShowZ.
Springer as you might be able to guess is a fav character for me and I want the best MP version possible. I know Virtus seems cursed but the possibility of floppy ankles on Apache has me concerned. I already have OM Saltus which I love but the Car mode is a million miles away from accurate...
Anyhow guess I'll have a full Springer shelf in the end.
That's twice in a wk now. It was 209 just a few days ago.
Edit: holy sh!t....smokey for 209, quietus @ 319. Im pretty sure tfsource bought bbts.
Oh I see how the ankle articulation works. Neat and simple.
Another bog standard s3 bot shelf display ho!
Now just the wait for Percy and a Blaster. And bigger shelves to do em more justice. And maybe a better Magnus, and of course a Rodimus! Maybe a better Hot Rod?
Hes here with all his ankle looseness. Not so bad positioning the double joint correctly but I do plan to fix that. Once I get the oil slick wiped off I'll faction him up! Good way to start the day!
So does anyone with the re-issue NOT have loose ankles? This seems like the first widespread example of a re-issue being demonstrably worse than the original (Other than maybe the loose elbow on Quietus)
I cant say mine are "loose". Its more like not as tight as I feel they should be for a heavy bot like this. Definitely dont think they factored in the weight as much as they should have when designing the ankles. Not excusing it at all. I definitely see where the problems exist, mine just arent as bad...yet. Time will tell
This is kinda scary when u think about the combiners too unfortunately.
Weirdly enough, the elbows on my reissue Quietus are better than the original's.
But yeah, the original release of Apache was relatively problem free.
In hand mine feel like they have somewhat ok friction. For being die cast feet they are definitely not loose to the point that they can move around on their own while handling him. That little friction does absolutely nothing when he stands on his own weight so they really are loose. I don't think there is as much of a fluctuation with die cast parts vs plastic so I'm sure they will be the same in the whole production run with only some varying from paint. I have a really thin sheet of clear plastic that I've been using to add friction on loose joints by hole punching out discs and fitting them. I plan to do this which I expect to work well.
I ordered one today too. $162 shipped from Baba with discounts. By the by, I will dig out that Big Spring tonight and get you some pics. Life kind of got in the way all week.
No worries! Any time. It's cool to see that baba has ShowZ beat by $2, pair that with a coupon or other discounts and it's hard to believe what you're getting for the money! Even with loose ankles, smokin deal!
Yep, I love Saltus, I doubt that this will replace him in my S3 Autobot display, but I always viewed this figure as one that got away and I have no issue with owning multiple versions of characters if the figures are worth having.
