Turns out, the vendor can't help me. Don't suppose anyone has a spare gold Soar head they'd sell?

 

Try reaching out to Orson/Sidecutter at Captured Prey. He may be able to order a replacement part for you. I finally snapped one of my gold leg tabs a year after I purchased the figure (I had been very careful, too) and he is going to try to help me out.

 

I got a replacement beak because I couldn't get the clips to stay pegged in. I'll check later and see if the old one has the part you need.

 

Consider it a lesson learned. Make sure pieces like this have some sort of barrier to guard from falling off a shelf- pets, kids, some vibration caused by a large truck rumbling buy- you have to protect these things! Glass display cabinets are best.

Did you contact FT directly? Maybe they can help you.

 

I just got this and broke the thigh tabs in like 1 hour. I did not man handle it in the least but they are were tabbed very tight and just snapped. are there better 3rd party parts instead of these flimsy tabs you can buy? is there a way I can get replacements?

 

I'm guessing you mean the gold tabs? If so, contact the business you bought Soar from. Failing that, contact FansToys. This is a widespread issue, so replacements shouldn't be an issue.

Second, when you get replacements, sand/file the tabs so they are thinner. The gold plating makes them ever so slightly too thick top to bottom. File the gold plating off all three tabs. It will still tab in fine, but exponetially easier to pop out.

 

My only compliant with this figure are the tabs above the alt mode feet. I really don't understand the point of them and they break easily. They should be made in die-cast or engineered them differently.

 

I hope FT will do something with the thigh pieces... hopefully replacement parts or something...

 

The bottom tab can be filed away completely. The second tab wants a little grip, to stay in position in dino mode and for the top one you might want to consider filing the slot to make it wider instead of removing the chrome (from the top of the tab, at least).

FT should really have named this guy "Face-plant" or "Grounded." Has anyone found a way to mod him so he has stability in robot mode? The slightest bump, and he goes over!

 

I always keep mine on his stand, seen some pics earlier in this thread where peoples Soar's have taken a tumble & snapped...

 

I've barely touched mine and he randomly fell over last night from a 7ft high shelf, ankles have become very floppy without any real use.

 

Ouch! I feel your pain, I hope it's OK.

Luckily the only figure I can remember dropping was a ROTF deluxe Sideswipe from about 9 feet high

 

Yep hate to say but but mine is firmly on his stand so I don't have to go through this.

 

I received my Red Soar months ago so I haven't really been keeping up with this thread. Has there been any talk of an alternate toy-style swappable visor face? It would seem appropriate for the Red Soars and I would love one.

Is this guy getting a re-release? I just noticed TFSource, TCP & Toy Dojo all list toon Swoop as a preorder, with the first two listing an August ETA (both TFSource & Toy Dojo had sold out of toon stock previously).

 

That would be useful for me..I'm starting a FT Dinobots collection and it looks like hunting down Scoria and Soar could be very expensive.

 

Chimungmung has blue soar in stock, but not super cheap.
You won't pay tax on it tho as they always declare a low value, and it's always cheaper for me ordering from here if I need to import.
