It's more that they changed the color layout. Makes it look too different.
I think the changes are noticable but they still work for the character. He's a more accurate as a design than NC but their style still comes through. Sucks that it's too much for you, maybe Galvatron will be more your speed?
Nice, the horns have been my biggest hold up about this, anyone got pictures of the alternative horns on the figure?
Really enjoying the coloured pictures to give a sense of how it might look. Though I agree, I'd like lighter forearms and fully purple hands.
You could always do what I do, preorder from BBTS and have it go to your pile of loot. No deposit needed for this one, so you can cancel the item up until release and never get charged. If you still don't have reviews, you can cancel it up to 7 days after it comes in stock for a full refund, or up to 90 days after it comes in stock for store credit. I've been doing this more and more for recent pre-orders, stuff I'm interested in, and know it'll sell out, but don't want to commit fully to without reviews.
I'm super hyped about this 3rd Party Armada Megatron. The original toy was my first ever action figure as a kid and this looks to stir old memories. Plus I've been dying to see it side to side with the original, noting unfortunately that I have lost one "ear" and Leader-1 from the set all those years ago.
Tell your kids that some toys aren't created equal. So be sure you're insured before the little ones go caveman on it.
I understand why people are annoyed at it being different if I do find these differences being a deal-breaker to be a bit petty, and lemme tell ya, no other third party is touching Armada for the foreseeable future.
That being said I kinda take this as Classics/Henkei Armada Megatron rather than Mastepirece, despite the size. A new take with modernized engineering and a new stylized aesthetic. I also prefer the new horns and shoulders.
I respect your opinion. I know I've been quite picky about this release since he's my favorite Transformers character and I have a ton of nostalgia for the OG design but ultimately I'm just glad we're getting an articulated Armada Megatron that at least still looks cool unlike that terrible 2015 figure that should've never even existed.
These are digitally colored, so it's more of a representation of what it COULD look like. The paint used on Naval Commander is very nice and matches pretty close to the original toy, so I assume Meg will get the same love. Also, they changed the color palette of Naval before release...so there is a pretty good chance they'll revise this concept off customer feedback to nail down the palette.
Why does it look like that if it's supposed to be a MP style toy?
It's only MP Scale, which is the same size as original Armada toys were.
Cause it is. It's in Fans Hobby's Masterpiece line (MB-17) and this guy is nearly twice the height of the original toy being around the height of MP-36 head to toe (plus rubber treads).
So it's 150$ on ShowZStore (148 with a DD pre-order). Pretty much the same price for everyone...
Unlike most 3rd parties Fanshobby tends to go for a more stylized approach with most of their MP figures.
I don’t think that’s what he meant lol
Masterpiece isn't about size, it's about being accurate
If stylized means making Armada Prime skinny and giving him a kibble flap behind his head, maybe they should just stick to the original design
Accuracy alone isn't what makes a "Masterpiece" a "Masterpiece".
MB stands for Master Builder. Therefore these are intended to be Master Piece scale. Sure they're super stylized but so were MP-01 and MP-03
I didn't say it did.
They're on the same level as MP-03, but that was a one off by a guest designer.
MP-01 is less stylized than these are. His aesthetic is stylized, but the design is the same. It's not as drastic as changing Armada Megatron's shoulders or giving him two knives and symmetrical hands.
Masterpiece is not about size or accuracy. It's about how much money they can squeeze from your wallet.
..that's not drastic at all though. Drastic was the completely new trailer for Naval Commander. Symmetrical arms is as drastic as the hydraulics in MP01's limbs
... Pistons added to joints for aesthetic is as drastic as making Armada Megatron symmetrical? really reaching there
The way G1 Prime's joints look isn't iconic, you can change how they look for aesthetic. Armada Megatron's asymmetrical arms are an iconic part of his character design and gimmick.
They changed how Armada Megatron's shoulders work and look too, dare you to find something on MP-01 that comes close, he's still fundamentally G1 Prime.
