On the one hand, I'm glad someone is at least making Minerva!

On the other, sad how much they're not making a cartoon based version. It's not a toy based version either (toy has headlights on the forearms, the bottom half of the legs would be the rear of the car, etc).

To be honest, this feels almost like we're back to CHUG days where it's all reimaginings of a figure, instead of really beholden to any existing version.

To be honest, I can't say I really have a problem with that. I mean, if her style was way out there, it might bother me. But so long as it's a good, solidly constructed figure, this will make me very happy.

The only thing that would make me happier is if this were actual classic-sized! But she can definitely find a home with my MP's.

It's recognizable as minerva, so it works for me. It doesn't stray far and you instantly know who it is. She has the iconic giant shoulders and basic body shape. Their pmop isn't dead accurate either, but these check off the right boxes for me. As long as they don't let anyone from fanstoys choose the colors....

I'm also happy that someone is doing this cast beyond Ginrai and Overlord. With that in mind, I don't own any FT toys: what don't you like about their colors? In pictures I always thought they were pretty amazing. I respect your views, just want the conversation :)

I LOVE that she isnt G1 perfection! FH is great at capturing the characters, but giving us something a lil more updated/tweaked, chunky, and full of details! :rock

Ya, count me among those who don’t need cartoon accuracy.

    I just want good toys

That was just my dig at FT and their paint drama for the last couple figures (quietus and whatever their blurr is called). They've been having some issues with it chipping lately too. Good convo for another thread.

Minerva is pretty much impossible to do accurately and keep those proportions...She has the head lights and basically the front side of the car as forearms...If you tried to do that with the toy,it would make her look like Popeye...It requires major faking of some parts and ingenius transformation

Another example of FH putting a higher value on being a good solid toy than they put on 'accuracy'.
So glad this approach is working so well for them. Its the reason they're my favorite toy maker right now.

FansHobby's toys are great, but they also show a predilection for re-using a lot of their engineering and/or engaging in MMC-style Redeco/minor retool parties. Two of their Monsterbots are largely just massive retools of each other. Doublecross and Grotusque shared a ton of a parts, and even their Repugnus used a lot of the same bot mode bits.

As a result, I suspect this Minerva may also be a Goshooter "pretool". I also suspect Nightbeat and Siren minor recolor/retools if Minerva and/or Goshooter sell well enough.

Well, I'd buy them! Definitely at least Goshooter and Minerva. If they move units maybe we'll get a Cab? I adore Masterforce so the more the merrier.

I agree. Right now, my FH Fat Ginrai is a loney broham. That said, those are my thoughts as to why this Minerva isn't screen accurate - they're prepping to flog the hell out of the mold like they did with their GG and his... what? Three/four recolors/retools and planned Thunderclash retool? Like you, I'm OK with it, but other's mileage is going to vary. :)

I think a few companies could manage a show accurate robot appearance either through miracle transformation or fake parts/cover ups. MMC/OX spring to mind, provided they really tried and pulled another OX Azalea out of a hat. Also, Badcube, when Badcube was still making stuff, could do it with its plastic origami. KFC/XTB MIGHT be capable of it, but the amount of plastic bending would be white knuckle inducing.

That said, as a few people have pointed out, Fans Hobby isn't about genius transformations or show accuracy. They're about fun toys. They're also about milking the hell out of their molds/parts designs if you ask me. As a result, no FH Minerva was ever going to be show accurate. FH is the only company giving any kind of serious attention to Masterforce, and they clearly like Masterforce so I'm willing to give it all the passes as long as she's a blast to pose/mess with and transform like all their other products.
