Several other Hasbro toy lines such as Star Wars and Marvel Universe participate in fan choice figures, but Transformers never has. Obviously because not only are those 2 franchises fanbases bigger than we can hope to be, but they don't require the engineering of a Transfomer and can use recycled parts. However, what if for a Fan's Choice Transformer it was for a repaint(maybe even a retool) or a re-issue? The molds already exist, and fans could pick from a list of predetermined figures to be released. I plan to ask this for the next Hasbro Q&A, but want to get a general consensus on what others think of this idea being applied to Transformers. Feel free to elaborate with a post & not just click on the poll
It would be FAR too expensive to make a fan's choice Transformer's figure, unless they they limited the mold size or gave fans a group to pick from. Otherwise we'd be getting an 8 foot tall MP Fort Max.
Did you guys not read my opening post completely? I suggested a repaint/retool or reissue figure as a choice since a new mold is implausible.
A reissue of Energon Bruticus with remolded G1 heads or heads that look G1. That would be good right? The molds are still available probably
I don't know what to suggest, but who wouldn't be behind this. Ohh wait, I got one. Movie Prime into Ultra Magnus.
A repaint/retool? Cybertron Hardtop retooled with a new head (wouldn't even be much of a retool) as Beachcomber. All the times this damn toy has been released and not one Beachcomber deco. What the hell, Hasbro.
I can't fathom why anyone would vote against this idea. Here's my thoughts, for what it's worth: for the Star Wars Fans' Choice poll, how much time passes between choosing a Fans' Choice figure and that figure's arrival to store shelves? Hasbro may be reluctant to do Transformers Fans' Choice figures due to the length of production time, fearing that fans will have lost interest in their chosen figure by the time it's available to buy or that the figure/character won't "fit" into whatever lines are on the shelves at that time. For example: let's say Hasbro had done a Fans' Choice poll for an Animated figure in the summer of 2008. If, say, fans had voted for a Wasp repaint of Bumblebee, the figure might not have made it through production before Animated was canceled and no longer a "going concern" for Hasbro. Transformers lines are constantly changing, whereas Marvel and Star Wars are kind of the same thing year after year. I don't know what's involved in pulling a mold out of storage and putting it back into production, but it may be more than Hasbro is willing to commit to. I think the best we could hope for would be for Hasbro to let us choose the paint apps for a figure they're already going to produce. Like, say Hasbro has plans to resell the Hubcap mold. They might set up a Fans' Choice poll to let us decide if we want to see the mold in black and purple, or yellow and red, or green and orange. The identity of the character would be, by necessity, out of our hands.
you mean the ones that are clogging shelves all over the world? lol, when i go to guatemala next year, i'll see if i can bring a devs for you that i find on clearance
I'd almost say the same, but the TF fandom is a tricky one at times Honestly, I'd be thrilled with any such program regardless of the figure, as long as it wasn't something common (like a movie Bumblebee).
Who in the spotted heck voted for 'nay'??? I can't think of a partiuclar figure right now as there are so many choices, but how is this not a good idea???
WFC Shockwave, Slipstream or Warpath. or give us a classics shockwave and wheeljack. I don't care what we'd get but it would be awesome.
the fans choice Transformers figures would most likely be limited to re-painting existing Deluxe class molds, some with, some without new heads. a poll for a whole new toy would be awesome though.
I aggree with this though i still think it would be cool for the fans to choose stuff evrey so often e.g. a yelow and red hubcap could be a nod to his original colours etc the figure wouldnt be called by that name but would be an intentional homage
