Probably using the Office 95 version of Powerpoint
After seeing that earlier invoice, I would say all the data for a user is stored in one centralized location. That location was compromised in which ever way.
So all of the following would have been taken:
- Phone Number
- All CC information
and whatever else you may have entered in their site.
So it would make perfect sense that E-Mails and Phone numbers have been spammed. I bet your mail man will also have more mail for you as well.
By the way, if you are not on the do not call list you can easily sign up. Go to donotcall.gov and input your phone numbers. If you continue to get spammed by the same company on your phone, all you need to do is:
- First time they call, let them know you are on the do not call
- Every time after that when you see their number, just save their messages
- You can actually get paid up to $100 per call after that point.
For me, after the first call, they pretty much stop calling. Too bad there is nothing like this for e-mail.
You mean MS Works and Lotus123.
That's just not going to happen, unless you straight up ban discussion of any wrongdoing.
And that won't end well either.
I don't want to put words in Pete's mouth, but I read that as saying he's going to have a panel separate from the "roundtable" panel.
At this point I'd really PREFER 2 seperate panels...a reveal panel (should probably be FIRST) and one for venting
I didnt buy from the club sence last botcon and I got animated cheetor! should I be worried? so far I havnt seen anything funky.
nice! i hope by on tap, you mean beer...
i didn't read it that way at all... but they still should've sent that email out a week or two again when the other figures weren't even on a boat yet...
yeah, i hope they ship with no issues... i'm not changing my info at the moment, because if someone's already got it, there's no sense in changing it now... but i may still... just wanna make sure Runamuck shows up...
this... it had to be at least a week or two ago that they knew, if not longer...
I'll put that on, in the bar
ooh, i'll have to add myself to that list anyway... need to get all the damn junk mail i get to stop too...
oh, i hope so...
Correct. There is a Comic/Magazine panel that I host each year and hopefully by then all the q's will have been answered at the roundtable. HOPEfully...
if you ever bought ANYTHING from the club, cancel your card immediately, it is compromised
I'd cancel the card you used just to be safe. At this point it's not a matter of "if" it'll be used, it's a matter of "when".
O will do! Sometimes this Hobby really Sucks!
A lot of confused information, after I thought we had solved this earlier... but here are the facts on the storing of CVV information:
Staying within PCI DSS Requirements when Storing CVC/CVV2 Information | PCI DSS Compliance Blog
Furthermore, this is pretty crystal clear regarding the forum member who received that scanned document in the mail:
Storing CVV2, CVV2 rules
Basically, while not illegal it against trading laws, and FunPub can be shut down by Visa, Mastercard and all other major credit card companies for storing your, my and everyones data improperly. Furthermore, as of March 9th they were still in direct violation of this. Anyone who has be compromised by FunPub recently should contact their card companies.
I guess this is why both that company and Visa told me to call my bank and report them.
I already got my hand smacked for this. I was just trying to help, so at this point I am backing out.
If people want to do what they think is right, then it is up to them.
The only thing that bothers me is that some one who packs the figures to ship them has full access to all my personal and CC information. Kinda defeats the whole security thing when anyone at the company can access this info and probably why the CC company frawn on what is happening at FanPub.
Just chiming in with my experience...
My club membership expired months ago. When the news broke of account theft, I had no way of logging into the club site to determine what credit card info was stored there. So I contacted FunPubs, requesting that information. They never replied.
To be safe, I've been monitoring all my financial transactions closely. I'd heard that even expired club member accounts were being compromised. Sure enough, today one of my credit card accounts was hit for a $1 pending charge from the Foundation for Angelman Syndrome Therapeutics. Luckily that stuck out as an obvious fraud charge. Now that I know what card was on file with FunPubs (no thanks to them) I have cancelled the account and requested a new card.
I was essentially done with Transformers already, as I was with the club, before any of this happened. I know that they have been very busy and have limited staff to follow up with customers. But I wish they had been a little more responsive, or even proactive, with my situation.
Could they be shut down? Or would they just refuse to work with them? If FunPub could no longer take credit cards, the only recourse would be PayPal... We may end up getting what we want after all.
Might be the only way we'd ever get Paypal from them. They only do what the fans want as a last case resort. I mean how long has this been asked for?
But yet again, if they did Paypal, there would be no way to auto renew those people who don't want to renew.
Sure they could. PayPal does billing agreements. My Xbox subscription auto renews via payPal.
yup. my photobucket account does as well.
Well Damn! I'm canceling mine Right now! Why would they keep people's info for so long
Good to know. With Paypal doing so much, why would a company not use them?
