I think he means "never have to reload" as both of the Legendary Laser Rifles "UP77 "Limitless Potential "" as well as their relative the "Wazer Wifle" have that same effect.
    Essentially, they have bottomless magazines.
The Bottomless Laser Rifles are terrible poor-mans Laser Gattlings since they eat through precious fusion cells at an alarming rate.

Yup. Never ever have to reload. So bugs, Ferals, dogs, molerats, etc are never a problem. With over 4000 rounds, .38 is in incredible abundance so I never have to worry about wasting ammo. Wouldn't believe how many times I've gunned down Piper as she loves to run right in front of the stream of bullets.

I'm calling it now; the upper floors of the Mass Fusion building (the otherwise unused but accessible area above the glass ceiling where one can acquire the Long Fall leg armor) are part of future DLC

    EDIT
Scratch that, it's part of an Institute quest

It's also a part of corresponding BoS quest.
Going there for a quest will always turn either BoS or the Institute hostile, depends of your factional allegiance.

So I'm good to complete quests for either factions until that point?
    Cool.
    I've always wanted to be a double-agent.

So I got Fallout 4 and I'm currently 6 hours in.

Is there some downside to joining the Minutemen I'm unaware of at the moment?

Also how do I avoid romancing anyone?

Respectively, none, Don't select "flirt" in a conversation.

    Okay, thanks.

What do the yellow dialogue options mean?

To talk them into something they normally wouldn't do.

Yellow means it's not necessarily likely
    Orange means they're not likely
Red means you've got a snowball's chance in hell.

Ok, wtf is with the settlement happiness? Everything is well into the green, I have houses with power, decorations, and all the vendors. Yet it keeps fluxuating up and down from around 50%. In Sanctuary I have 18 people, at least 30 food, more than 50 power, 40+ water, almost 200 defense and yet...can't get anywhere near max.

I keep coming back to it and occasionally everyone is having a town meeting... Hell, my pipboy was trying to tell me it had a bunch of 0s for the resources and whatnot.

If you don't care about building and defending settlements, then it may be better to avoid the Minutemen.
Completing the game with them requires heavy building and helping farmers whenever you can.
Eight settlements is a minimum requierement to take on the Institute with the Minutemen, eight settlements and a special structure in five of them is required for going againts the Brotherhood.
On the plus side, having developed settlements and trade eventually means a lot of funds. Buying anything is never a problem.

The Minutemen also don't conflict with the Railroad (in fact, if you fail story proggression with the Railroad Desdemona tells you to finish the Institute with the Minutemen) so you can play both factions at the same time without making any choices.
The Railrod and BoS are conflicting, completing the game with one faction makes the other one hostile.

Yeah, settlements have more bugs than a seedy motel.
Occasionally settlement residents will, for no reason, all gather in one place and stand around. Occasionally, they'll vanish altogether for no apparent reason.
The initial settlers of Sanctuary (Preston Garvey, and the Concord survivors) will only walk around and "maintain" buildings for no reason. You can assign Marcy to harvest crops (ditto for Mama Murphy), but her brother will only walk around and mope.
Any settlers assigned to Hangman's Alley will join the Diamond City Guard's daily assault on the Super Mutant apartment building two blocks away and have the rotten luck of having the most inconvenient surrounding landscape of any settlement in the game (very little room for development and you can't build higher than the tops of the surrounding buildings)
Any settlers that are unlucky enough to settle the Murkwater Construction Site have a Mirelurk Queen for a landlady and horrible terrain obstacles that can't all be scrapped.
Despite most of Greygarden's permanent settlers being Robots, the game insists they need beds.
Don't get me started with the restrictions and issues with Boston airport.

I've found if you go to a settlement that shows some kind of problem alert that doesn't actually exist, the way to fix it most of the time is to go there, then walk out of it's boundaries before fast traveling.

TBH, Boston Airport isn't supposed to be a "real" settlement. It's a buildable area only because of two BoS quests where you need a place to build components.

But yeah, all this Settlers stuff is the weakest and most boring aspect of the game.
Wouldn't be bad if you could skip it entirely, but the Minutemen must be played with this stuff.
Worse than that, accepting any radiant quest for helping farmers will give their settlement to your faction, whether you like it or not...

You can't even opt out from this stuff by siding with BoS and taking settlements for them. Because farmers will continue asking for your help and when you help them, this settlement goes back from the Brotherhood to you... It's not like it should boost their allegiance to BoS instead, right? After all, it's BoS provisioner who's saving their skins, not a Minuteman. Ball dropped here, Bethesda.

Some people like building, but it shouldn't be forced on every playthrough.

Here's hoping there will be, eventually, a mod to disable the Minutemen help requests and all this farm building.

Building a single home base with no settlers is just fine with me.
