I'm sure some people will click on this thinking I'm going to rant about how the FoC multiplayer sucks or something. That isn't the case. Actually, I need some help. I've been searching for a while and have found no one with the same problem, nor a solution. So I got Fall of Cybertron recently, and finally got around to playing it, starting yesterday. It's a great game. I wanted to check out the multiplayer (at least to create a custom character), but it won't work.

Specifically, I am playing the game on PS3, and when I select Multiplayer from the main menu, the game tells me I'm not signed into PSN nor the FoC servers.

I've looked through all the options to see if I'm missing something (which, it appears, I'm not), I've read multiple times that it does not require an online pass (something that I would have had if it had been included, anyway, since I bought the game new), and I have no problem with my internet otherwise (apart from the fact that internet in New Zealand is extremely slow and pisses me off).

My PS3 works fine online. I played Borderlands 2 online the other day, and I've been downloading stuff for weeks without any problems (apart from it being slow - this is why you should keep regular backups. My PS3 died and I had to re-download about 350GB of data, because I couldn't manage to bring my old PS3 back to life to do a transfer). I've tried both yesterday and today. I've tried signing in and out of PSN. I can access the store just fine....

What am I missing? I've got to be doing something wrong. Or maybe the game is broken. Fat chance. Has anyone else had this problem, and is there some solution? I'm seriously stumped, and here I thought I was the tech expert...

It might be a broken game, I had to re-buy WFC three times just for it to get past "Checking", and now the data for Autobot Chaper II is corrupted and I can't play it.
So I would suggest getting a replacement, or waiting a while to try again.

Yeah, I'll probably just wait for a while before trying again.

Out of curiosity, are you talking about a digital copy? It sounds like it, although having to buy three copies of the game.... That sounds like a waste of money. I'm assuming you returned it each time. Or something...

Anyway, I have a physical copy. You'd assume they wouldn't print faulty discs, but weirder things HAVE happened.

War for Cybertron was really hard to find over here for the longest time. I ended up just hiring it, then I imported it (cheaply) from the UK recently.

I did return it each time for the replacement, and they all were discs... so, yeah.

Yeah, I know you didn't mean I should do that. That'd be silly. But wow, that's surprising that you had a DISC do that so often. Well, if it doesn't resolve itself soon, I'll look into getting it replaced. Cheers man. I appreciate the input.

You're welcome. All the discs were used, they may have been scratched. :p

Possibly, but if you were playing on PS3, unlikely. Blu-Rays don't scratch easily. Mine's brand new, so it's kind of a pain. Good thing I'm not a multiplayer fan then. Hahaha. Ah, but I've almost finished the campaign and I've only played it for two days so far..... Oh dear.

I've seen a similar problem on the X box 360. You may have to reset your router to renew your IP address.

So just a little update that I probably should have done a while back. It's working now. I don't know why. It just.... started working. Kinda helped that my PS3 froze when I left it to install a large game overnight. Great job, right there. Then the next day, I forced it to shutdown, let it do its little check-up and database rebuild, and it was working fine.
