I'm looking at some masterpiece items on the UK eBay and wondering do fakes exist and are they easy to spot?! I've only just started my collection and I'm buying as I go and when I have the cash free! The fact I could by from the UK in MISB and shave on international shipping and tax is a big incentive! Seen a nice looking starscream(he has 2/3 for sale) and with them not been made for a few yrs (thats my understanding)which brings me to ask do fakes exist??

There's igear versions, which are the closest to "fake" you can get, but they're easily identifiable by their packaging [not takara's standard black box], their prime is a downscaled MP01, their seekers have different arrangements of kibble and are called otherwise [traitor, warper or something, etc] and if you see a conehead it's either a custom or igear's.

Outside of Igear? No its likely too expensive for a KO to copy the MP designs and given the nature of who buys them inferior KOs would not sell well.

    which starscream were you considering?

prices are going down on the old MP-3 and hasbro MP starscream (g1 colors) due to the new MP-11 mold kinda being really hot/popular at the moment.

people are realizing just how sexy the mold is now that they have hasbro MP thundercracker in hand. it's kinda like a "o shit this was actually good" moment for a lot of collectors, and they are trading in their old models for the new ones.

people that still have the old MP-3 and hasbro G1 repaint misb are kinda forced to lower their prices too if they want to sell their product when something hotter is on the market. guessing that's why you're seeing lower prices.

There are 3 MP's based off of the MP-11 molds currenty released. MP-11 Starscream, MP-11s Sunstorm, and TRU MP Thundercracker

There are 7 based off of the MP-03 molds. MP-03 Starscream (AKA Greenscream), MP-03 US edition Starscream, MP-03G "Ghost" Starscream MP-06 Skywarp, MP-07 Thundercracker, Walmart MP Starscream, and Walmart MP Skywarp. There was no US released MP Thundercracker based off of the MP-03 mold

Just had a look at a comparason video on you tube and the robot mode of MP11 is so much better!! The only thing I think it misses for me is the stand incase you put it in vehicle form. think ill get a TRU Thundercracker and see what price i can find a MP-11 Starscream for. Thanks for all the info. No doubt ill have loads more to ask.

On the subject, I'd really like someone to make a downsized KO of MP Hot Rod to be a little closer to Sideswipe.

Not going to happen, he's way to complex to be downsized, the parts would be to fraigle. Maybe Takara "MIGHT" make a new mold for Hotrod but I personally doubt it.

Honestly, I hope they revisit both Hot Rod and Rodimus. I love the toy, I really do. But the complexity of it is it's downfall through and through. He's so damned fiddly, that I can barely get him to hold his gun, plus the fact that they fall apart if you just look at it wrong. Yea, really hope that they do, and that way the targetmaster that came with the US Rodimus won't tower on the Spike that came with Optimus.

The only fake ones I've seen are the knock off retools of masterpiece seekers.
