Has anyone else noticed that with most figures Has/Tak have been coming out lately based off of G2 characters that the new figures don't have the G2 insignias on them? I was messing with my GDO Powerdive earlier and he only has normal Decepticon insignias, and the same goes with GDO Megs. Does anyone have any reason why Has/Tak haven't done that lately? It just seems kinda off when you're messing with something based off of G2 and they have the G1 insignias... The obvious exception to this rule being the G2 Bruticus set, where everyone has G2 insignias on them.
I don't think they're officially recognised as G2 by Hasbro or Takara, the toys just look similar without being designated as G2. Take the Amazon G2 Bruticus for example, that was officially advertised as G2, with G2 being all over the packaging, so that had the G2 Decepticon insignias. Wow, how many times did I say G2? xD
I think this is case, generally speaking. I'd venture a guess that it has a bit more to do with the non-G2 faction symbols are much more recognizable. I think it's a bit more of a clever move from Hasbro to give a nod and do a homage in these ways than how the G2 FoC Bruticus has been done. That said, man, that G2 Bruticus has one cool package!
