Besides asking and hoping for an honest seller, is there any way to tell whether they're authentic or not?
One sure fire way is to see what color lenses they are. If they're some funky colors that Oakley doesn't make, that's usually a dead giveaway. I'd stick to the common Oakley colors: Fire Iridium, Ruby Iridium, Ice Iridium, Black Iridium, and Emerald Iridium. There are aftermarket lenses that are made in those colors but usually they're few and far between. Traditionally speaking the aftermarket lenses are geared towards those that want more varieties in color. I'd generally avoid ones that say "Custom Lenses" as that just screams aftermarket for me. Generally it's pretty rare to see fake frames on eBay. You can usually spot fake ones pretty easily by just looking at the O logo. Worst case, it doesn't hurt to ask the seller. Ask for an SKU number which is usually printed on the inside of the frame but keep in mind that some older models don't have the SKU printed inside. My Square Wire 2.0 doesn't since it's before they started doing it. You can always ask me anything specific since I have a pair sitting on my desk. Anyways. Got these this afternoon! It is awesome when two of my favorite worlds collide.
Apparently my Juliet needs to be completely replaced. All this from some stripped screw heads on the hinges? There's no way to get the screws out? Seems kinda weird.
Or a mohawk! They weren't very comfortable and even though the fit was snug, you would always feel like they're about to fly off. Odd feeling.
Yeah, I figured those would be uncomfortable. Especially if you've got an oversized melon for a head like I do. I'd probably snap the thing in two.
I tinker with cars and race at NHRA tracks so I needed something that was pretty much bullet proof to meet safety regulations and wrapped around to block not only sunlight from sneaking in while leaning over an engine but sweat as well. I ended up getting a pair of Wiley X Romer II's with my prescription and they've worked very well. If it's good enough for Navy Seals, it's good enough for me.
I should probably post mine up 1. I'm having a hard time finding a picture of them, but I have the original OG e-wires that I got back in 1999 with the soft/hard case. 2. My Juliets with ice lenses 3. My Oakley Whiskers (not my picture, but you get the idea) to take the spot for my e-wires: 4. And my attempt to wear something more casual and less sporty, my Dolce and Gabbana 2057's Oh, and I suppose I should post up my Oakley Crowbars for skiing. I really want to pick up a pair of Wisdoms with fire lenses at some point for really sunny ski days though
Not necessarily Wow, you really do love Oakley . If I won the lottery tomorrow, the first actual purchases I would make (after paying off my student loans lol) would either be some ridiculous Transformers purchase or one of those Oakley Timebomb/Icon watches. Sure, I'd eventually pick up a Panerai too, but those old school watches have a special place in my heart . I wouldn't do that $25k one that Michael Jordan wore though
That just looks all sorts of wrong. Yeah, Oakley is my brand of choice. I used to have two pairs of Ray Ban/Killer Loop but that was many moons ago. Yeah, if I won the lottery I'd hunt down a pair of the Pit Bosses. That thing looks hella bad ass.
I wear prescriptions, so i don't have the option of shades. But if i did... I refer to ZZ Top for what i like: "...thick black frames with the glass so dark, they won't even know your name."
Why not get prescription sunglasses like I did? Though it does jack up the price by a couple hundred dollars.
Well my glasses are tinted pretty dark but its a double edged sword; barely effective outside, too dark dark for indoors.
Just watched DOTM with the TF 3D Gascan. Pretty awesome stuff! Now to find me some Ruby Iridium lenses for them!
Crap. Just tried on a C-Wire plasma frame with Ice Iridium lenses and now I really want a pair to replace the Square Wire I recently busted up trying to fit the replacement lenses into.
Still trying to track down a pair of C-Wire plasma frame with Ice Iridium Polarized lenses with no luck. Meanwhile, picked up a set of Ruby Iridium lenses for my TF Gascans.
I had a couple pair of Oakleys in high school. Browsing this thread makes me want to go get a new pair!
