In exactly one week, Rescue Bots will be hitting 5 years since their first episode aired and I'm making this thread in honor of RB. So onto everything I loved about Rescue Bots. -Cody wasn't some annoying/bratty kid who got in the way of the Transformers 24/7. He's an enjoyable human character who actually was helpful instead of annoying. -The references, holy shit. I remember in one episode Blades was like "Some names humans make don't make sense. Like, King Cobra, Moon Unit" referencing the stupid name Frank Zappa gave his daughter. (While watching I laughed so hard my sides hurt) There were other movie references here: -Blades is hilarious. I don't have explain why. -Flobsters. 'Nuff said. Now, enough of me rambling, go on ahead, discuss!!
The show seriously has a lot to love about it that its hard to name specific things, I'm glad I stuck around for the 100+ episodes, it was worth it. Even though I do wish a show like this could also have Decepticons as recurring annoyances, I still enjoyed this show a lot. It had a lot of cute ideas for non-Decepticon threats.
I like how it was brave enough to do away with the Decepticons. The character designs are also nice, although I wish we got more complex, Generations versions of the characters.
I like that Rescue Bots showed that a Transformers show can work without having to be all about Autobots vs. Decepticons, or Optimus vs. Megatron. I like that it can be a Transformer show skewed to a younger audience without being babyish or bland. I like the world of the show and that the human cast actually rivals the robots for personality. ... and no one else has flobsters. 'sa preddy gud show.
I personally think it's the best tf in the prime universe, might even be the best overall, I just wish we got some more articulated figures Seriously, I'd kill for generations figures of the main four bots!
Agreed. I've been wanting those for a while. Heck, I'd take all Legends if that's what it took. As for the show, characterization. The cast changed and grew in real ways, not just aging up the characters, but constantly expanding who they are and their relationships with each other and the town. If you go back to the first episode after watching the last, the character growth is amazing. No character was a cliche and there were plenty of character driven moments. Even the animation had plenty of little touches like that; one of the instances that I like to point out is in "The Lost Bell", when the accident happens and Cody and the bots are pulled out to sea, every bot in seeing what happens moves as fast as they can to protect Cody. Second, the culture. The town had holidays and a history, the bots brought their own. As in the clip above, we saw both directly and indirectly that the Bots were becoming culturally aware, they were watching movies, reading books, etc. They weren't carbon copies of anything, but were original. The series itself made plenty of references of every kind; to prior episodes, to pop culture, etc. Their world is lived in, it has a history, it has a future. Third would be plot innovation. They handled a series without resorting to using Decepticons in any way as an antagonist, but still had 104 plots that put them in a situation! Finally, it's hard not to appreciate the emotional content. Humor from the townspeople exchanging money when the bots reveal themselves, to Blades quoting pirate movies as they go to sea, to just funny situational dialogue. The "feels" when the bots are near death and the people are trying to save them, or the way everyone in town is gathered after Charlie gets hurt.
Pretty much the idea that Decepticons aren't used plus its a show younger audiences can connect with.
The whole show makes me so happy and I can't even begin to list all the reasons why I love it. Maybe one day I'll sit down and list the things I like most about it. One thing I like is that the cast and crew are very interactive with their fans/audience. I'm over on Twitter and I could just ask them a simple question and they would answer it even if it's a few days or months later. I don't expect answers right away cause I know they're busy.
Rescuebots also referenced "Gravity" and i'm sure other movies (off the top of my head: Titanic, Godzilla, Ocean's Eleven, James Bond). But, yeah, the whole concept of Rescuebots is great and i think, given a good director, would translate great into live-action movie. seriously, could we see any of the alien characters from other sci-fi franchises whose underlying theme is always going to be warfare/combat hanging out with Earthlings enjoying a day at the park or at the beach or at the pool, generally hanging out or working together, living together and basically just living life. for example, when Blades watches TV with their human hosts and the bots, that always is entertaining (Cupcake Hoarders). Or when Chase for the first time sees detective movies. or when the bots and the human characters spend time together at Halloween or Christmas. or when Boulder paints and enjoys Earth scenery and nature. I look forward to an episode where Boulder tries to cook Italian or Chinese. Or perhaps more pop culture movie references like Terminator or Aliens. imho, that's what makes Rescuebots very unique. I so am hoping for more seasons and I'm already missing it every Saturdays.
Only things I don't like are the setting, with the silly technologies, Cody and the cliche know all human scientist. The Bots have more character than most other modern series. Great to see Prime and Bumblebee relegated to secondary characters.
I'm very happy we have confirmation they're still going to be around..."for years to come" Rescue Bots ALL Season 4 Episode Discussions & Season 5?? NEWS.
I hope the YouTube series is as good as the Hub/Discovery version. I'm a bit concerned they might have to change production staff and work with a decreased budget.
Hmmm.... maybe not too much effect, I think they decided since all the eps wind up on YT anyway, why not start out there... probably makes $$$ for them that will keep the series going.
that's what i thought. i was under the assumption the TV show will continue, but that they will upload episodes on Youtube especially for those who don't have cable access. maybe Hasbro is checking sites like this, see people who want to watch & people who share new episodes, and figured they want to expand their reach while still able to fulfill their bottomline.
