Like the title says ever wish the G1 Scorponok/ Black zarak mold was bigger to match up better with Fort Max? Wonder what the reason was for the size mismatch?

No. It would never have been sold in the UK, even if it had, my parents would never have bought it for me in 1987.

As cool as Fort Max is being big, I wish he was scaled down to the size of Scorponok.

I'm more a fan of their base modes, so if a larger Scorponok had given us more playset to interact with, I couldn't say no to that :)

As a kid, one of my pet peeves was the size disparity between Fort Max and Scorponok. As awesome as Fort Max is, he really should've been scaled down.

Always. The figure should have been Fort Max sized.

I gotta vote no, if he were that size he would have been $99.99 in stores around here like Max was. I actually got a Scorp for Christmas one year and still remember how cool that was. A smaller max would actually make me happier.

Nope. He was big enough. Fort Max could have been a little smaller (but still keep his awesome double-Headmaster feature), but I like how the comics explained Fort Max's size difference.

Transformers #38. En route to Earth, the Autobots are upgrading Fort Max into his larger body and introduces Cerebros.

They had to cheat Scorponok's toy size already with the helmet so the Nebulan figure was the same size as others. If Scorp had been Fort Max size then it might've been even more ridiculous. Unless of course they gave him an intermediate extra Headmaster robot like Cerebro. Which actually might've been cool.
Personally I'm happy enough with Scorp's size.

I'm happy with Scorponok's size as-is; he's already one of the biggest figures in my collection. A down-sized Fortress Maximus would actually be my preference over a bigger Scorponok.

Might have had something to do with the standard "bad guys don't sell as well" logic making it harder to justify producing a Decepticon figure quite as large (and expensive) as Fort Max.

Seeing as we never got Trypticon or Fort Max in UK, I made do with Metroplex and Scorponok battles instead :D

Scaled ended up being the nail in the coffin for me with Transformers as a kid. Scorpy being bested by Max just by size alone rarely forced a battle between my toys. Blaster's size always got to me, especially after I got Metroplex. Rodimus Prime always seemed so small to me compared to Ultra Magnus (which I thought was cooler anyways). The gestalts being smaller than some of the larger bots (Blaster and Ultra Magnus again), and even in their individual forms as compared to the 84-85 Autobot cars got on my nerves as well.

This just forced me to mostly playing with the toys on an individual basis, where I'd focus a mission on the Protectobots hunting the Stunticons or something (where sizes made a little more sense). I still had a ton of fun, but I was into G.I. Joes longer simply because of the scale always making more sense.

No, I like Scorponok the way he is. Metroplex on the other hand is a toy I wish was much larger.
