I got to see 'Weird Al' last night at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando. After the show, I hung out near the people who had backstage passes. I waited until they were being let in, and then just sort of mingled in with the group as far from security as possible. From there, it was an elevator ride down to the green room floor, so I just put myself at the other side of the elevator, using my concert t-shirt to cover up the part of the shirt I was wearing that ought to have had the backstage sticker on it. Got to the green room without a problem, met Steve Jay, Jim West, and Jon 'Bermuda' Schwartz (didn't see Reuben), and then Al showed up to sign autographs. Stupid me had no camera/ phone on my person, but he did sign my 'Peter and the Wolf' CD, a fairly rare disc in the world of Al. He chuckled a bit when I asked him to make it out to 'highest eBay bidder.' Worst part was my wife not getting through, then having to wait and wonder what happened to me. Anyone else manage to make it backstage illegitimately?
Never even tried. Most of the bands I like are aren't that big and they usually come out into the crowd to hang out. Don't care to meet any of the members of tool ( my favorite band ) as I heard they're not too friendly.
Not this tour, at least from what I've heard. He did it on the Straight Outta Lynwood tour, though. Devo-suits and everything.
Heh closest thing for me was me and my group sneaking into the VIP area of the 2007 Transformers premier. Saw random people affiliated with the movie and what not. Didn't really catch any big names. Also I used to get VIP seats at the House of Blues due to knowing the person who owned the venue. I remember seeing Eiffel 65 from that vantage point haha.
No, I've always gotten backstage legitimately. Met a lot of really cool cats in my radio days. RIP Dimebag
My wife realized I was fulfilling a near-lifelong dream in meeting a musical idol, and was very cool about it afterwards. I <3 my wife.
