sure he dies in like one punch from Prime, but i also find him so badass too.

People really didn't seem to recover from the shock that Shockwave wasn't the big bad.

Don't tar the movie with the fact that the publicity department fooled us. Shockwave was a loyal warrior who was bad-ass enough to give Optimus Prime a hard time...basically he was War Within Shockwave, both in size of his part and his role in the story.

He didn't scream out platitudes about logic during battle scenes, which when you think about it, pretty much makes him the most logical version of Shockwave yet. (Joke aside, this is just a medium difference we are noticing.)

Considering that he's one of FIVE major Decepticons in the film, he made more than a sufficient impression. He had incredible charisma and screen presence, had a pet that basically could have overpowered the rest of the Decepticon army, and gave Optimus a hard time before finally falling. And yes, he does get screentime, as fully half of the giant final battle is devoted to trying to deal with him.

Don't let peer pressure get you down. I'm a Shockwave fan and I think DotM Shockwave rocked. I just think he should have killed the Wreckers on the way out.

Is over hyped (mostly by lies) and is a generic badass that rarely talks and dies in anti-climatic death that pisses off most folks who expected more.

 

Not just that he looks badass, but what did it for me was the scene where the Wreckers were unloading ALL of their ammo on him and he was just marching through the gunfire like it was nothing. So awesome

I'm fine that he wasn't the big bad, I'm upset that IN the actual movie they gave him an awesome set up in the beginning, then not a word until the Autobots're in the city. Even then, he goes down like a bitch.

Shockwave deserved at the very least to show up in Africa with Megatron, Starscream and Soundwave, talking about potential plans.

Nope. He was sniped by soldiers, partially blinded/distracted from Lennox and his team parachuting on top of him, his eye was shot out and left hanging, then he got his guts punched apart by Prime, and finally his eye was torn out.

Shockwave was the Rasputin of DOTM. And yes, even as a minor character in the long run, he was NAMED, which is a rarity for Decepticons post-first-film. He's basically one of the main group of Decepticons, he commanded the Driller as his Kraken, he was able to send Optimus flying into a crane and get caught in cables with a few shots, and he commanded the ground forces of Decepticons while Megatron and Sentinel chilled on the rooftops. Optimus won't even risk his troops going out into battle while Shockwave's out and about, and had to send the Wreckers to hold him off.

I love when he enters in Chicago, climbs out of the Driller, cocks his cannon like a boss, and just stands there so badassedly, basically saying, "Come at me bro!"

 

I wish that instead of growling in that scene,he would have said: "You can't hide from me forever,Optimus Prime!"

i think it's cause he's the "strong, silent" or "silent but deadly" type (but in a diff context haha). he doesn't have to walk around shouting insults and talking shit, he just kicks ass, plain and simple.

and when he does talk, it's so well done. they really got the voice down pat.

 

That actually happens in the game, although he doesn't talk.
