I was out earlier with fellow collector Counterpunch and we came across something a bit strange in the weird Toy Store at the local Mall:

    Iron Claw 001

Yep, that's a single packed version of the (previously) European exclusive Minicon Iron Claw. It cost $8 (ouch!) at the "Toy City" store in Cary Towne Center in Cary, NC. We're thinking this is a running change to the Market Six release from last year with the same, unchanged recolored Cybertron Recon Team members, although it wasn't clear if an entire case was out, so who knows.

Anyone know anything else about these? Might we see some more of those Euro 8-pack guys surface?

Huh, interesting. I managed to snag the European 8-pack from HighPrime a while back and it's pretty cool. If some of these end up at retail after all that's cool for those that missed out.

I'd love to see these trickle into US retail somehow... I missed the Euro 8-pack as well and it feels like an annoying gap in my Classics collection.

The single-packaging of this is really encouraging.

Where are people getting the idea that these are HFTD? The originals weren't, and neither are these. You can see the packaging

Nice to see these getting a possible proper release.

They used to be easily avaliable on EBay France, I sent the item number onto many MiniCon fans.
The guy I bought them from had a good few of them, and shortly after they suddenly were in abundance from multiple French sellers.

I was never able to get a Minicon 8 pack either mostly as I didn't really want to pay over £30.00 and up to $40.00 for 8 minicons (shipped).

I would hope this give me a second chance to snag some now.

As to the packaging that is a complex issue ; each part of the various sub-brands in 2010 had different colour but similarly designed packaging but Hasbro were not that consistent with it so it lead to some brand confusion. I think it's perfectly understandable to see theses as Generations toys - but remember at the time the Generation line consisted of only Deluxes. "Technically" Hunt For the Decepticons is a campaign not a toyline but it's just easier to call them HFTD than it is to call them 'Transformers' or 'Transformers 2010' which is what Hasbro sometimes calls it.

I think 99% of people would call Brawl (for example) a NEST toy and that was a campaign too so if it's OK to call that and Bludgeon and Mindwipe a NEST toy I is perhaps fine to call anything that isn't Movie (including things in Yellow or Red boxes) HFTD so long as it isn't specifically stated otherwise as it would be with Powercore Combiners.

I guess some of it is down to personal preference though and where you see Minicons - obviously some form of Minicon has been released in most (main) lines of recent years including the Powercore combiners and Movie related products.

I guess part of that is also if you see HFTD (Yellow boxes) is a 100% Movie line or a blended line. But if you like to Powerlink them then the only line of that period they are actually suitable for is Powercore combiners - but it's a rare person who uses traditional Minicons with those toys (even though they do work quite well sometimes).

The one shown above for example make a great claw or chest plate.

But i'm not going to shout at anyone as they call something in a red box HFTD.

I didn't hint these were HFTD at all, strange choice of news title. Oh well.

HTFD toys had a HFTD sticker on the bubble. That's where the name came from.
